Check coat and embellished sock trainers

December 14, 2018

Are you ready for the weekend? I’m definitely looking forward to sleeping in after a couple of very early starts and long days this week. I still have a few Christmas gifts to buy so I’ll be trying to finish off my shopping over the weekend. I’ll probably do most of it online because I don’t like crowded shops.

I’d been looking for a mid-length check coat for quite a while, so when I saw this one marked down to half price I snapped it up.

We hear a lot in the news about how online shopping is destroying the high street, but it’s much more convenient to shop from the comfort of your own home than battle through the hordes of shoppers. There are plenty of sales on at the moment too. I bought both my new check coat and embellished sock trainers online. I’d been looking for a mid-length check coat for quite a while, so when I saw this one marked down to half price I snapped it up. I had a Debenhams gift card so it ended up costing me very little, which is even better 🙂

Remember my post about elevating your casual style? These embellished sock trainers are a perfect example of that.

It’s a medium weight fabric so not really warm enough for bitterly cold days. However, the relaxed fit makes it possible to layer a chunky sweater underneath…I’m all about layering at this time of year. The check has red, pinky purple and light brown running through it, which I’ve echoed with my red stripe jumper underneath. My red bag (which you’ve seen many times before) with a fun toucan faux fur pom pom matches perfectly. It’s one of my most-used work bags and goes with so many outfits.

These photos were taken during my lunch break at work…and yes, I am wearing sock trainers. In fact I’m wearing trainers a lot lately and my feet are much happier for it. I know not everyone has the option of wearing jeans and trainers for work, I suppose I’m lucky in that respect. However, while I want to be comfortable, I do like to make an effort with my work outfits. Remember my post about elevating your casual style? These embellished sock trainers are a perfect example of that.

I was so bowled over by the red sock trainers from Zara (which I wore for the Style Not Age October challenge) that I knew I needed some in black too. Zara had sold out in my size, but then I found these embellished trainers at Asos, which I love even more (and they’re cheaper). They do make my feet look huge…but they are huge…these trainers are a size 9! I’m hoping the crisscross jewelled straps will distract attention from my boats and create the illusion of slightly smaller feet. And if they don’t, at least they look pretty!

What are your plans for the weekend? Are you busy in the run up to Christmas or relaxing at home?

That’s really awesome your work allows you to be casual enough to wear sock trainers. In my opinion, nothing beats comfort and when your feet are happy then you know you are happy! Love the colors of your plaid coat and the length is a plus. I see a lot of cropped jackets and I am not really a fan so longer length for me!
