Happy new week! I hope you all had a great weekend. We watched the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night – it was crazy and flamboyant as always! I can never predict the winner, other than it won’t be the UK!
Jane chose May’s Thrifty Six theme of Crochet Revival. Although it’s on trend this season, I have never really been into crochet clothing that much. I have a few crochet vest tops but I don’t think any of them are preloved. So, I set about looking on Vinted for a bag or cardigan that I would wear often, rather than just buying something for the purpose of this theme.
At first, I found this green raffia bag that looks crocheted, but I couldn’t be sure. In any case, it’s a fab little bag for holidays and it was only £5. Then, I spotted this cardigan and I thought it would also be a great piece for holiday next month. In fact, I like it much more than I thought I would. It’s a really useful extra layer for summer that elevates an outfit without making me too hot. There’s no brand label in it so I’ve no idea where it came from.
I’ve layered it over this jumpsuit that I bought in Madeira a few years ago, which picks out the green in the crochet pattern. I could also wear it with fuchsia, bright blue or pale yellow, which is hard to see in the photos. The base colour is cream, so I chose neutral flat shoes, which create a leg lengthening effect.

“Bohemian classics like crochet really light my fire – this 1970’s vintage skirt was destroyed when I found it…
…I’ve reconstructed it from the waistband to the lining and even re-crocheted it in parts.
The top is also a 70’s piece although I feel its spirit is Edwardian. Styled together I’ve created a crochet dress which sings to my boho soul…
My style crosses boundaries, I can’t put a name on it yet boho is the closest to my heart.”

“This crochet top was a hand-me-down from a friend, and I’ve worn it a ton. My crew and I are exploring ideas of what to wear UNDER your crochet, so I decided to wear a swimsuit top under it. The skirt was a recent find that I thrifted for only $2. I felt very Mod Men for some reason, LOL”

“I have a few crochet pieces but none were preloved so I went on a little thrifting adventure and found this adorable olive green crochet pullover sweater. I wore it with a hand-me-down skirt from Daenel and my thrifted moccasins. Now I want to get all my crochet things out and wear them!”

“Since crochet is a perennial summer staple, I have several crochet-style layering pieces in my wardrobe that come out every year when the weather warms up. But it’s delightful that summer 2025 is seeing a Crochet Revival that puts this boho summer favorite in the trend spotlight. And it’s a very easy trend to buy second hand! You can definitely go all-in with a boho chic look, but crochet elements can be used more sparingly to add a hint of laid-back boho vibes to other aesthetics too. I kept my styling of a dark blue-grey short-sleeved open weave cotton crochet cardigan (thrifted back in 2015!) on the classic feminine side with an A line skirt, old-school captoe flats, and a vintage bulky pearl and chain necklace (all thrifted).”

“So I knew, somewhere in the back of my mind, that I had a photo with something crochet. I thought it was a top, but I could only find this dress. I received it from someone, can’t even remember from who, like ten years ago or so. And although I do love the look, it’s not me. Crochet is somewhat to hippy for me. It does not suit me. And of course the colour isn’t doing anything for me at all. I also can’t remember wearing this dress, so this must have been the only time.”

Mmm, you always find amazing items on Vinted, while I can’t find a thing lately.
That’s such a nice cardigan! I’ll bet it looks great on jeans too! Yes, it’s me……. can’t believe i said that!
Thanks Nancy! Oh I had to really search for something that I liked but I will definitely wear this cardigan a lot!
Oh my gosh, Emma, this granny square cardigan might be my favorite thing that you own! It is so adorable and you have styled it perfectly. You are definitely going to find this cardigan to be extremely versatile in your colorful wardrobe. I have a similar one but the sleeves are really long and full which makes it very impractical to wear almost always. Now I’m going to be on the lookout for one like yours!

Thanks Shelbee! I could really see you in the cardigan!
That cardigan is amazing, and it looks great with your jumpsuit! It looks like it will work well with so many different colors too.
Thank you Sally!
Love this granny square cardigan! I want to make one, but I keep getting hung up on the colors. I just can’t decide! I did make a hexagon cardigan but took it apart because I didn’t like the yarn, and it was too big.

Thank you Celyn!
Oh my goodness, what a find! That crochet cardigan is gorgeous! Lucky you. And it looks great with that jumpsuit.
Thank you Amy!
Boy, I’d have to look long and hard for a crochet item. Love the styling here, just perfect with the green jumpsuit. Love the crochet bag too! I keep forgetting to check Vinted, as I am so used to going to Poshmark. The shipping and tax is getting up there though, so I might be checking Vin more regularly!
Hope you are having a great week!

Been so busy with Danny and Gibby!
I had to search really hard to find something that I like and would wear again. I didn’t want to buy something just for one blog post! I hope Danny is settling in well 🙂
