Although it’s only the second week of September it seems we are done with the warm weather here in the UK. There’s a real chill in the air, and we’ve even debated turning the central heating on! One consolation for the dip in temperatures though, is rediscovering jumpers and boots that have sat unworn for months (as well as buying a few new pieces!). This week I’m fully embracing the new season in tartan trousers and a turtleneck sweater – both new purchases from Zara.
When I popped into the store to collect my leopard print shirt dress I had a little browse (as you do) and immediately spotted these cropped tartan trousers. I picked them up and put them down a few times before deciding to buy them. I don’t have much tartan in my wardrobe so it’s a bit of a step outside my comfort zone. But that’s usually where the fun starts, right? There is a matching top which I’ve pondered buying (especially after being so pleased with the mustard co-ord), but I don’t think I’d get much wear from it. It’s short sleeved for one thing, plus it’s quite long. But we’ll see, I might go back and try it on – just to satisfy my curiosity if nothing else.
However, I didn’t have to look far for an alternative option because I found this camel sweater in the same section of the shop. Holding them up together I realised that the classic camel hue is just what these bold trousers need to tone them down a bit. To top it all off (quite literally) I found this baker boy hat to compliment the sweater. All I needed to finish off the look were shoes and a bag.
The tartan print incorporates two of my favourite colours: red and mustard. As I’d yet to wear this red bag as a belt bag (I’ve worn it with the shoulder strap here and here) this outfit seemed like the perfect opportunity to try it. It feels strangely liberating to not carry a shoulder bag! In fact I’m now such a fan of them I’ve bought a couple more, including this same one in black. I mean, why spend big bucks on a Gucci one (not that that’s an option for me) when you can get a faux leather one that looks just as good?
Sock boots are a big trend again for this A/W, which is great news if you love them as much as me! (Not that trends should dictate what you wear of course). Last A/W I bought several pairs in various colours, some of which I haven’t even worn yet. The stretchy fabric makes them ideal for people with bunions (provided they have adequate support) as they don’t rub. These red boots were the first pair I bought and kick started my obsession. They match the belt bag and bring everything together nicely to welcome the new season!

Those red boots are too fabulous for fall! I love the color and how bright they are. You styled it perfectly with the plaid trousers and the red belt bag, or fanny pack. You look so cute!

Well this has nothing to do with your outfit, but every time I see your name, I just think it fits. You have the most beautiful “peachy” complexion.
What a chic fall look you have here dear! I absolutely love the fanny pack, they’re definitely in!
