When I spotted this dress on sale I couldn’t resist it, even though I don’t have anywhere to go in it. But then that’s never stopped me buying something I love! A classic midi dress is a wardrobe hero though, so I don’t feel guilty about buying it, especially as it was reduced from £149 to £44. (It’s also available in pale blue).
As you probably know, I love bright colours, especially jewel shades. I often like to pair two contrasting hues but I wanted accessories that would compliment the classic style of the dress. Pairing emerald green and gingham together creates an elegant but interesting look.
The fabric is polyester with a little bit of elastane to make it comfortable; I don’t think I’ve ever bought from Whistles before so I wasn’t sure about the sizing. This is a size 10 and zips up at the back easily, thanks to the stretch.
I just happened to try these gingham mules on with it and was surprised how much I liked the combination. The only problem was I didn’t have a bag to match, so naturally I headed to eBay! That’s where I found this brand new Zara bag for less than £10. I was actually looking for a cute little top handle bag but surprisingly there was little choice – either on eBay on in the shops. This large slouchy bag is definitely more practical though.
For a different look I could swap the gingham for navy, tan or leopard print accessories. I could even swap the belt to break the green up. A cropped denim jacket and white trainers would work for a casual weekend outfit. Thinking of different ways to wear a garment ensures you’ll get plenty of wear out of it…now that really is being green!
