A Classic Outfit For a Classic Watch + Style With a Smile Link Up

A Classic Outfit For a Classic Watch, Zara red roll neck jumper, black and white The Kooples jacket

Hello friends, I hope you’re week is going well. We have milder weather currently after a few very cold days. I managed to slip over on the ice last week and bash my knee…landing face down in the gutter at 8am was not a dignified way to start the day! However, it ended on a much better note with a win at the local Christmas quiz night! Thankfully my team mates have a good knowledge of films because that’s my weakest subject (unless it’s Carry On films!).

A classic outfit for a classic watch

Today’s outfit is rather subdued by my usual standards. It’s not often I base an outfit around a watch but that’s how it panned out. When Rotary contacted me just over a month ago to ask if I’d like to become a brand ambassador I was over the moon! A little later my beautiful new timepiece arrived and I knew that for its blog debut I wanted it to command the attention it deserves. No big frilly sleeves or bold patterns, instead a classic outfit for a classic watch. I love the two tone design and elegant face. It’s a joy to wear and will adorn my wrist for many years to come! (I posted a reel on Instagram if you want to see it in more detail). Rotary have given me a code for my readers for a 10% discount using the code THESTYLESPLASH10OFF. Start dropping Christmas present hints now!

You probably know that I don’t wear black very often, but I do like a black, white and red combination every now and again. I prefer to wear this jacket by The Kooples with a bright top (I’ve featured it before with a pink jumper). The only new piece in this outfit (apart from the watch) is this red jumper that I bought in Zara on holiday. It seemed strange buying a jumper in 25c degree heat but Zara is cheaper in Madeira than the UK. I like to plan ahead! I had this jumper in camel but gave it to my mum because I prefer bright colours next to my face.

It’s good to have a classic pair of black trousers, even if you do usually prefer bright colours

In fact, I’d also given these trousers to my mum years ago, but as she lost a lot of weight last year due to illness she put them in the charity pile. Luckily, I retrieved them and put them to good use! They’re by Ronit Zilkha – I think from a diffusion line for Debenhams. It’s good to have a classic pair of black trousers, even if you do usually prefer bright hues. To add a little more colour to the outfit, I chose red ankle boots instead of black.

I still haven’t done any Christmas shopping but the decorations are up! Well, actually Isobel did the trees and decorated the stairs. Me and Pete had a nightmare putting the outside lights up in the cold and rain. Whenever I see big fancy displays in gardens I wonder how they managed to do it! And what do they do with it all when they take it down? That’s dedication to the festive spirit!

Do you go big on decorations for Christmas or do you prefer to keep it subtle?

Love your beautiful classic timepiece, and “timeless” outfit! I always like the combination of red with black and white, and wear it often. You can’t go wrong with black trousers, I am wearing them this week, too. Thanks for sharing and enjoy the rest of the week!

That’s a very elegant watch. I like that style. Those jumpers are great, they have them in all colours and I always wear them in this season. So stretchy. How awful to start a day like you did, I hope your knee doesn’t hurt to much. But what did you win??

  10. Gail says:

Thanks for the feature! Sorry to hear of your fall on the ice. Ouch!
Great red jumper. I always plan ahead with clothes…I buy swimwear now, when the new ranges land, because if you wait until summer all the matching pieces have gone! x

  11. Emma, this is a beautiful watch and outfit. I love the print on your blazer, too. It’s very unique and chic. While this is a bit subdued for you, it is a really gorgeous outfit! Bright red is such a great color on you. I am so sorry that you slipped on the ice. I have definitely had my fair share of ice splats so I feel your pain! It is not the best way to start any day. Sending you lots of healing energy for your banged up knee and lots of holiday cheer as well!

Thanks so much Shelbee. I can imagine living where you do, ice is a frequent problem! My knee is healing although I’m annoyed about putting a small hole in my favourite tracksuit bottoms!

  12. Oh geez Emma! That sounded like a nasty fall! That is no fun to start your day! What a beautiful watch and a British brand that is new to me. Love the combination and how you styled the red/black look aorund the watch. Love the rose gold and silver. HOpe your knee is better.

Thank you Jess. Yes, it’s much better now, although I’ve been having pain in it for a while and an x-ray showed early degenerative changes. I’m just hoping I don’t need a knee replacement in a few years. My step mother had one a few months ago and now my dad needs one. We joke about asking the surgeon for a 2 for 1 deal!

  13. Vicky says:

Rose gold is my favorite. Everything about this is lovely!
