As August draws to a close I’m wondering if I should pack most of my Summer clothes away. I’m still finding it hard to believe that it’s almost September…my not-so-little girl starts high school next week! It will seem weird not having her around in the day after an extended period of homeschooling followed by the Summer break. Since the end of March she’s only been in school for three weeks – getting up early will come as a shock!
We’ve just spent another week at my mum’s, making the most of some time without work and school. The weather was a bit hit and miss, unlike our visit earlier in the month when it was scorching. We now have wet and windy weather and it’s starting to feel autumnal. We shot these photos a couple of weeks ago when the temps were in the 20s. This green sequin parrot jumpsuit is 100% cotton, and not too thick so it’s ideal for Summer.
I’d seen Love ur Look pop up in my Instagram feed when my blogger pal Suzi Grant (of Alternative Ageing) modelled for the brand. Love ur Look’s founder, Ronke, was a fashion buyer and stylist before putting all her experience of fashion and love for vintage into her own label. The brand’s aim is empowerment through print, colour and inclusiveness. All of the designs are made from discarded materials, such as surplus stock or production off cuts. Ronke travels to India twice a year, visiting her factories and ensuring they practice ethical treatment to their staff. The company donates a percentage of its profits to the charity Tolfa which provides vital and preventative healthcare to India’s ownerless animals and animals belonging to low income owners.
I own a lot of jumpsuits but none as blingy as this one! It wasn’t cheap, but I just couldn’t resist the sequin parrot on the back. It’s also now available in red, and there’s a short sleeve red jumpsuit with a sequin star embellishment on the back. I really do need to exercise some restraint and not splurge on another one, as tempting as it is!
Because it’s 100% cotton it does crease easily, and to be honest, it’s a bit of nightmare to iron. But I love it so much I can live with that. I’m wearing a small/medium and it’s plenty big enough. (It’s available in sizes xs up to 5XL/6XL). The waist is elasticated at the front, and the belt helps to define the waistline further. I chose hot pink accessories for maximum contrast, although purple or navy would work well too. In fact my shoes are two-toned purple and pink. They’re years old from New Look but I very rarely wear them as they hurt my feet. Flat sandals or trainers would be a more practical option.
I bought the L.K Bennett bag on eBay years ago for a bargain price. I’ve hardly used it, which seems a shame; it’s a decent size so I should use it more often. I’ve added hot pink jewellery to complete the look, including some new earrings from Yaa Yaa London.

The green and pink theme prompted Isobel to pull out this velvet bomber jacket and add a few touches of pale pink (plus my lipstick!). The cute Betsey Johnson necklace was mine but found a home in her bedroom…I’m sure it won’t be the last of my jewellery to be claimed by my mini fashionista!
My outfit: Love Your Look jumpsuit | L.K Bennett bag (old, from eBay) | New Look shoes (old) | Moschino sunglasses (old) | Yaa Yaa London earrings | Isobel’s outfit: Marks & Spencer jacket (old) | Blue Zoo leggings (Debenhams) | River Island ankle boots | New Look sunglasses

OMG, you both look SO cute! I can’t believe that sweet little girl is headed to high school! So many people said how much they cherished their time with their kids, so at least there was one good thing during the pandemic! That parrot is such an incredible conversation piece for your outfit! Love it. Of course, you have the perfect bag and those adorable shoes! Have a great week!
