You could say I’m fashionably late to the gingham party. In fact, if I’d left it any later everyone would have drunk up and gone home. My procrastinating came to an abrupt end when an email arrived informing me the Zara sale had started. Not only did I order this top, but also the matching skirt, this cute basket bag and several other items I decided I couldn’t live without.
I’m not sure I want to wear the gingham top and skirt together – I think that would risk venturing into Little House on the Prairie territory. But then, when it comes to fashion I’ve learned to never say never to anything. I like the combination of gingham ruffles, denim and embroidered shoes, it brings together several trends in one outfit. Not that I’m a slave to trends, but I like to make them work for me without looking like a fashion victim. The top is quite short so it works better with high waisted trousers. For a dressier option you could swap the jeans for a pair of wide legged trousers in navy or white.
Raffia bags are really having a moment, but finding a good quality one that doesn’t cost silly money hasn’t been as easy as I’d expected. When I saw this bucket bag in the Zara sale it went straight into my shopping cart (it’s been reduced further since I bought it…typical!). It’s a good sturdy design with a top handle, as well as a long strap that can be removed. It’s lined with a striped fabric and has a snap fastenening strap over the lid to keep it shut. I can’t help thinking that this raffia bucket bag would make a perfect bird’s nest! Grab it while it’s going cheap (sorry, terrible joke!).

Love it all, but especially those shoes!
Thanks Pam!
You’re not the only one eyeing up the Zara sale! I have seen a few items too! Love the gingham top and look forward to seeing the skirt on. I prefer the colour too compared to the regular black/blue gingham that I’ve been seeing. And don’t get me started on the basket bags! I’ve been searching for one of those too! Looking fabulous Emma xx

Thanks Laurie! Basket bags are surprisingly difficult to get hold of (affordable ones anyway) despite being a huge trend right now. I can’t help feeling that a lot of retaillers missed a trick here!
This is such a fabulous look! Your pink gingham top is the cutest! Love the ruffle sleeves! I’m also loving those embroidered mules!

You look gorgeous! I’m not a huge gingham fan but I I’ve got one gingham top that I found in a charity top last year. I think I’ve worn it once lol! I LOVE your embroidered shoes – they’re stunning. The bag is pretty amazing too. I do love Zara in the sales 🙂

You look AMAZING in this, Emma! It looks so fresh. I am skipping both the gingham and basket bag trend, but I’ll always jump into anything embroidered or embellished! Those shoes are fab. xx
Super cute Emma!! I have to make it to a couple of Zara stores 🙂
I love gingham, particularly gingham button up shirts. They are perfect for layering under sweaters. This top is adorable and I can see why you finally jumped on board with the print with this one! Let’s talk about those embroidered mules… Fabulous! They really look wonderful with your top and jeans.
love that print and the shoes are so cute!!!
Gingham looks so chic and with the ruffles is even cuter. You look lovely combining all of these trends.
