Gold and Lime + Style With a Smile Link Up

How’s your week going so far? Mine’s been rather busy, taking mum and Isobel various places, as well as trying to keep my unruly kittens in order! They are almost five months old now and full of energy and mischief. Their latest trick is balancing on top of doors! They certainly keep me on my toes!

After working in Birmingham on Friday, I was back again on Saturday for an International Women’s Day event at the Bullring hosted by Lou Featherstone AKA Luinluland. It was a fabulous day with some truly inspiring speakers, and I got to meet up with some of the ladies I met at Lou’s previous event at the Bullring a couple of years ago. We all did an underwear shoot with a professional photographer for Y.O.U Underwear. I think a few of us were nervous and unsure about doing it, but when it came to it we all felt so confident and supported by the group of amazing women. I’ll share more when I get the professional shots!

Anyway, on to today’s outfit. Gold and lime is a fantastic colour combination; just enough of a contrast without being too harsh. It’s a colour palette I’ve tried before with this outfit, which I combined with leopard print. The starting point for this look was the gold ballet flats, which Tieks kindly sent me to try.

I know some of you are already familiar with Tieks, but for those of you who aren’t, they are foldable flats that easily fit into a handbag or suitcase. Each pair comes with a compact storage pouch and foldable tote bag. Tieks are built to mould to the foot and flex as you walk, thanks to the split sole design. The back of the shoe is cushioned rather than elasticised to ensure they’re never too tight on your heel. There are more than 70 prints, patents and classics, all with Tieks’ signature blue soles.

I usually find flat shoes problematic because I have very flat feet and need arch support. However, I was surprised at how comfortable Tieks are. The split sole provides some support and cushioning, so they don’t feel like other ballet flats I’ve tried. As you know, I had bunion surgery on my right foot last year and I’m having the other foot done this year. The shoes do not cut into my bunion at all, despite the edge sitting right on top of it.

Metallics go with everything, so I chose the Golden Glitz flats. They’re the perfect style and colour for these gold jeans – my second pair of barrel leg jeans. Instead of a jacket, I opted for this short sleeve tinsel cardigan. I completed the look with a shiny gold bag.
