The older I get the more I’m of the opinion that clothes and accessories should spark joy (to borrow a phrase) – both for the wearer and the observer. Life is too short for boring clothes! Of course, I have my fair share of joggers and simple T-shirts for wearing around the house, but I keep those for indoors. An unusual print, a quirky accessory or something sparkly can be a great conversation starter!
I’m sure you all know by now how I love statement sunglasses! Well these are the latest addition to my collection. They’re upcycled, handmade from a seller on Etsy called Hollywood Vintage who I first discovered on Instagram. The embellishments are broken pieces of jewellery repurposed to make the most fabulous shades. These sunglasses were the starting point for this outfit of green sparkles and bling. I immediately thought of this lurex wrap top and then decided to add more green with the trousers. Pairing the dark green with lime creates enough of a contrast. Just to break it up though, I chose a pair of multi coloured shoes that I bought in a charity shop for £6 a couple of years ago. The rainbow bag kind of matches the shoes with the colours.
The earrings were a little added bonus included in my order and made to match the sunglasses. Dangly earrings would probably have been too much and competed with the sunglasses for attention, so these are the perfect style and size.

Lastly, I looked for a suitable necklace, and after realising that I don’t have a lot of green jewellery I unearthed this rather quirky one by Betsey Johnson. I’ve had it for years but never worn it before – I really don’t know why because it’s so cute! After we shot these photos I made a TikTok of this outfit which you can see here. I’m slowly getting to grips with TikTok and IG Reels…it’s a work in progress!
