We usually go away during October half term, but this year we’re staying at home. Isobel has work experience, plus mock exams coming up, so we’re waiting until next year. We may squeeze in a city break, but holidays in the sun will have to wait. Pete’s birthday always falls in half term, so we’ve been able to celebrate abroad previously. However, we still marked the occasion with a nice lunch in a new place in a nearby town. We took these photos afterwards on the way back to the car.
I kept my outfit casual with jeans and a jumper. The jacket prevents it from looking too casual (it seems weird to not need a coat in late October!). I usually wear trainers everywhere these days, but I was recently sent these gorgeous brogue boots by Moshulu and I don’t want to take them off! It’s so rare to find footwear (other than trainers) that I can put on and know instantly that I can walk for miles in them. They require no breaking in whatsoever. My feet are rather hard to please (despite the two bunion surgeries) so these boots are an absolute delight! They’re very sturdy too, and I know they’ll last for years.
I based my outfit around the boots and jeans, sticking to a simple colour palette of burgundy and blue. The stripes on the jumper add a third colour, preventing it from looking too blocky. I grabbed my Ollie & Nic bag in teal to finish the outfit. Whenever we go out as a family, I’m often the keeper of keys, phones and lip balm, so this it the perfect size to fit everything in without being overloaded.
