How’s your week going so far? I always find January the toughest month – it feels way longer than 31 days! The weather has been dreadful, so rainy and grey. This is when colourful clothes come to the rescue! You’ve probably heard of the term “dopamine dressing”, which refers to actively choosing to wear clothes that bring us joy and boosts confidence. I’ve been employing this tactic for years, and colour plays a huge part in how I choose my outfits.
When it came to putting this outfit together I just let my mood guide me to these colours. Maybe the combination of hot pink and emerald green reveals something about my frame of mind that day. The dominant colour pink is associated with optimism, playfulness and compassion, while green is thought to be calming and promote balance. We all need that in the depths of winter, don’t we?
Although the jacket and trousers are different textures they are a good colour match. I bought these trousers in the H&M sale (currently reduced to only Β£8) and immediately noticed that they are almost the same shade as this Pom Amsterdam jacket. I have five other jackets by Pom Amsterdam, they are so well made made with lots of beautiful details. This one is preloved, from Thrift+ – where I also bought this Scotch & Soda suit from…I have a thing for Dutch brands!
I don’t know if I did it consciously or not, but I’d hung the jacket over this green frilly blouse. Straight away I knew I wanted to wear them together. All I needed to do was select accessories, and instead of opting for a third colour I decided to colour block with the green and pink. I remembered I had this vintage hat stored away which matches the blouse perfectly (and disguises a bad hair day). My green quilted bag, pink glitter boots and pink jewellery completed the look.

Emma,
This is a fabulous color combo and you made a smart choice by selecting your accessories in the same hues. I agree that wearing bright colors on a dreary winter day is a great way to elevate one’s mood.

Thank you π
There was a Dutch band in the 80s that had these colours, Doe Maar. They compliment each other!
I love Dutch brands, it’s a pity we can’t order directly from them anymore since Brexit!
Thanks so much for hosting, Emma. Such beautiful colours. Love these colours ytogether too π
Thank you Claire!
Your color combos are unmatched! Not only is this a gorgeous combo but somehow you’ve managed to match everything in the perfect shade, which is tough to do Gorgeous as always and love the attention to detail!

Thanks so much Lucy!
Love pink and green together, but I dont have alot of pink in my wardrobe. Maybe Ill change that a bit in the Spring. Love it all, and the sparkly boots! The pants and jacket look like they came together, a match! I need either sun or color in the Winter for sure! Am I fashionably late?

Thank you Jess! The jacket and trousers are a really good colour match, although the textures of the fabrics are different. We’ve had such awful weather here, I really need all the colour!
