I mentioned last week that I had signed up for Second Hand September…so, today I’m wearing four preloved items. Let’s start with this fabulous Scotch and Soda snake print suit that I found on Thrift+. I was searching on Google for another Scotch and Soda piece (having already looked on eBay, Vinted and Depop) when I stumbled upon Thrift+. I had never heard of it before, but after having a good look around the website I was impressed. There are loads of items listed and it’s easy to search for what you want.
I don’t know whether it was the jacket or trousers that popped up on my search initially, but when I found the matching piece I was thrilled – especially as they were both £24.99! Scotch and Soda is a premium brand, with the jacket and trousers originally retailing for about £130 each. They both still had the tags on too! The trousers are a medium, and I normally take a small, but they have an elasticated waist so fit like luxe tracksuit bottoms. They’re a bit voluminous on the hips but I can live with that.
The colours in the print make it easy to style; I chose neutral sandals to mirror the base colour. The solid horizontal stripes of navy, gold and burgundy on the legs do have a slight shortening effect which the neutral shoes help to counteract. I could have chosen a navy top and bag, but I opted for burgundy to add warmth. The T-shirt is a fairly new purchase – one of my last before Second Hand September. I ordered it along with three others in the Joanie sale. The fabric is really soft and I love the fun print.
When it comes to second hand fashion I know a lot of people are reluctant to buy shoes. However, I’ve found some great footwear bargains – both in charity shops and on eBay. These wedge sandals are from Marks & Spencer and are so comfortable. I don’t think they’d even been worn. They cost £6, which I think is a bargain. BUT, I have bought great shoes in charity shops for only £1! It’s always worth having a look.
My fourth pre-loved item is the Paul Costelloe burgundy crossbody bag that I bought on eBay years ago. I have found some fabulous handbags on eBay. I’ll be honest, I’ve had some disappointments too – scuffs that weren’t mentioned in the listings mainly. But they have been the exceptions.

Hi Emma
YOu find such cool pieces! I have been looking on Ebay lately, but my main thrift shop is Poshmarkl, and I bought a few things recently. Some JSlides sneakers and they look hardly worn. I do a fair amount of shopping on there. Love that you found the set, the print is very cool amd I love the retro top . It all makes a statement , and the bag is “the cherry on top” !

Oh, how fabulous are you, Emma! What a great second hand find in that suit. It is so cool and so very you and I love the way you have styled it! I just went thrifting yesterday and I scored a gorgeous Zara dress that reminds me of you for $18.99 as well as a brand new pair of Zara ballet flats for $12.99. I always check out the shoes in thrift stores. I have found some pretty awesome pairs over the years! Great post!

Isn’t second hand shopping the best? Well done on your Scotch & Soda find, and the great discount. I have a new second hand leather purse that originally retailed for $319 that I got for $50. I love this fun print mix look! The jacket and slacks have such an interesting print. I had no idea that snakes could look so good!
