A little while ago I decided I needed a leopard print trouser suit in my wardrobe and the January sales seemed like the perfect opportunity to bag a bargain. Once again, River Island came up trumps; it’s one of my favourite high street retailers at the moment. Like a lot of brands, the sizing can vary. Sometimes the trousers come up big, and other times they’re quite snug. These trousers fall into the latter category. I’ve more recently purchased another trouser suit from River Island and had to size down to an 8. It’s a bit annoying if you’re shopping online, especially as they now charge to return via post. Luckily I have a store quite close to where I live so I can return items in store for free.
Anyway, apart from that, I’m really pleased with this suit. Initially, I was looking for a more fitted blazer, but I do like the slightly slouchy fit of this one. The trousers have front pleats, which is a nice detail. The fabric has a fluid feel to it, making it soft and comfortable. I’ll be able to make lots of different outfits with this leopard print trouser suit by wearing it as separates. The jacket would look great with jeans, and I also plan on pairing the trousers with a colourful sweater.
I often prefer to team leopard print with bright red, but I wanted to tone things down this time by switching to burgundy. It was quite a warm day so I could wear a T-shirt under the blazer. I matched the Joanie Clothing graphic tee with my Teddy Blake bag for a smart casual look.
I’ve read that snake is replacing leopard as the on trend animal print…*sigh*. It’s not that I dislike snake print – far from it – I have a fair amount of it in my wardrobe. It’s just the dizzying speed of “trends” that irks me. Maybe that’s partly because I finally managed to get hold of some leopard print Sambas, only for the fashion pack to announce that the Country Japan trainers are now the Adidas footwear of the moment. Not that that should bother me, because I buy and wear what I like, not what fashion buyers think I should wear. For me, leopard will always be the number one animal print.

I love this leopard print suit with the burgundy! I think leopard is such an easy print to pair other colors with. I’m not the biggest fan of snake prints because I am so scared of snakes. Like you, I’ll wear what I like though! Thanks for the link up!

Thanks so much Marsha! Hope you have a great weekend!
Emma, you can really rock a trouser suit! I love leopard print and don’t think it will ever truly be usurped-it’s reached classic status! You must be perfectly proportioned, because coordinates are so difficult to fit both pieces in the same size on the same body! Also, love those Sunny’s-they are perfect with the outfit. Hope you have a good week and thanks for hosting the link up!
Thanks so much Di! The great thing about suits is being able to buy different size tops and bottoms. Some brands’ sizing is way off – I had to get XS jackets at Monki because they are enormous! And yet I just got a suit from River Island (which I’ll feature next week) and had to get an 8 trousers and my regular 10 jacket…crazy! Thanks for stopping by and linking up, hope you have a great weekend!
Haha, yeah I’m with you on the trends thing. I wanted the Puma speed cat, and then I thought, no I just look for other sneakers and not on trends. My favourite animal print is the leopard print. What a fabulous suit! It would look great with all colours! Have you already decided what to do with your hair?
Thanks Nancy! I’m debating going a bit shorter, not much though. I like to be able to tie it up when I’m exercising, but it does need some lift at the roots, so maybe layers on top.
Love the leopard print!!

This suit looks amazing on you, Emma! You’ll definitely get a lot of wear out of it by alternating wearing the pieces with other items. Thank you for choosing my outfit as one of your favorites last week, too!
I hope you are having a great week so far!

You look so gorgeous 😀
Love the leopard and burgundy combination! It’s giving me inspiration for my leopard pants!
I am not really a fan of animal prints especially snake print, however, this leopard print you have on is a versatile one and can be styled in so many ways. Happy New Week.
