Pastels in spring might be as predictable as floral prints in spring (hardly ground breaking), but I wear both all year round. It’s just that at this time of year there’s more in the shops that I like. I found most of the winter collections on the high street underwhelming, to say the least. When I was in Birmingham last month for the Women Unleashed: Empower, Celebrate & Connect event with @Luinluland, me and fellow colour lover @hannahscolourfulworld popped out to get lunch from M&S. We were both rubbernecking walking past River Island whilst talking about spring fashion. My eyes were immediately drawn to this pastel green trouser suit near the front of the store. I knew I had to try it on (and most likely buy it!).
The following week I headed to my nearest River Island and tried on the jacket and a few other things. To my surprise, the size 8 fitted me just right (the 10 was too baggy). I’ve found this with other brands and it’s a bit annoying because I don’t like jackets to be too loose. Anyway, rather than buy it there and then, I ordered it online via Topcashback with a discount code. I very rarely pay full price for clothes, and if they’re not in sale I try to find a code with one of the vouchers sites such as Vouchercodes.
I use Topcashback whenever I can for online purchases because it soon adds up; you can either withdraw it to your bank account or transfer it to your reward wallet and convert it into vouchers, which adds a variable bonus on top. For example, I used some for Ticketmaster and bought two tickets for a gig next month. More recently I used some for Adidas vouchers and bought a pair of Sambas. If you want to sign up and click on the link above, you’ll get a £10 sign up bonus. I may also receive a bonus if you earn £10 over three years…just want to be totally transparent!
Anyway, back to the outfit. I ordered a size 8 jacket and size 10 trousers…which were also too big! So I swapped them for an 8 which fit much better on the waist. When I tried the jacket on I was wearing a purple jumper which contrasted beautifully with the pale green. I was intending to style it with a purple blouse for its first outing. But when I received this gorgeous floral print blouse from Izabel I knew it would look great with the suit. As luck would have it, the weather was warm and sunny, giving all the spring vibes!
I chose a burnt orange bag to highlight the floral print of the blouse. I also popped on some cheap and cheerful sunnies to match. Rather than my usual choice of trainers, I switched things up by opting for ivory ankle boots which help elongate my legs.
Unfortunately the sunny spring weather has left us and it now feels like winter again! Good job I didn’t pack all my jumpers away!

Love the soft, green and orange combination of your outfit, Emma! Plus you always have the perfect pair of Sunny’s as an accent. Sizing seems to be an ever changing and shifting notion, so frustrating! Thanks so much for hosting the link up, and hope you have a great rest of the week and weekend!

Such a beautiful colour! And a perfect fit. Why is it these days that we can’t ever shop the sizes we have? That blouse is a very pretty one too. To what concert are you going?
