When I first spotted this orange print vintage maxi dress on eBay I knew I had to have it. I just love everything about it: the print, the length, the sleeves…it’s my dream dress. But the course of true love never runs smoothly does it?
Although it was described as being in “immaculate vintage condition”, it soon became apparent when I unpacked it that it really wasn’t. In addition to the numerous stains it also has several small holes. I was so disappointed, but the seller was lovely and offered me a full refund on returning it or a 50% discount if I decided to keep it. There was no way I could part with it, especially as it fits me perfectly. So I’m hoping a dry clean will freshen it up and remove some, if not all, of the stains. Thankfully the print disguises them to a large extent.
Whenever I buy a piece of vintage clothing I wonder what stories it could tell if it could talk; how many people have worn it before me, where in the world it has travelled to. There is something so magical about vintage clothing, although I realise that not everyone relishes the thought of wearing second hand garments. I totally get that, I mean I wouldn’t want a second hand bathing suit for example. However, a beautiful vintage dress, coat or blouse that nobody else has really makes me feel special. I love history, so wearing a piece of it is a privilege…even if it does have a few blemishes!

HI Emma
I have been buying mostly secondhand lately myself! I love the colors and the cut is so stunning on you. The sleeves and the collar are great details! It was too bad that it wasn’t as she stated, but good that she was easy to work with. Love your haircut too!

Emma, this dress is so amazing! I love the colors and the fabulous print. What a bummer that it is not in better condition, but at least the seller is willing to make it right. I need to go check out eBay! You find so many awesome things on there!

Such a fabulous, unique dress!
Oh my word, how amazing. I can picture you on a magazine with designer 60s,70s furniture. Do you get the feel, don’t know how to express it lol. It’s absolutely amazing. And how kind that the seller gave you a refund. However, I don’t think it’s very nice to sell it as a good piece in the first place. Thanks a lot for the feature!!
OMG!! Vintage magic at its best!!! I WANT this maxi!!!!! You look sensational!!! Please link this one up with me!!! xx
Really love the print!!

You look powerful in this dress Emma! A powerful print.
You make the most fabulous vintage finds! This is the perfect vibrant psychedelic 60’s print and you wear it so beautifully! I am a huge fan of vintage and love to mix my decades when dressing. Thanks for sharing this inspiration.
Wow, Emma, that 60s (or 70s?) psychedelic dress is incredible on you! LOVE those colors. The fringed bag is perfect with it. I’ve just started to enjoy shopping vintage clothing, although my first pick–a very cool 80s olive paisley dress–is too big! I will have to explore the cost of alterations, so I’m a little hesitant about these purchases. You are terrible good at it, however!
