Accents of Faux Leather – February’s Style Not Age

It’s the last Monday of February already…and that means it’s time for another Style Not Age challenge. It fell to Jacqui to set this month’s theme and she chose faux leather. At first I thought it would be fairly easy but surprisingly, I don’t have an awful lot of faux leather clothes. My immediate thought was the black shirt I wore for last month’s Thrifty Six faux leather theme or the culottes I featured in August’s Style Not Age post. But on second thoughts, I wanted to try something different. So as the weather was mild I braved it in this puff sleeve top.

One way to buy into this trend without compromising on comfort is with faux leather accents

Faux leather isn’t the easiest fabric to wear and isn’t always the most comfortable, especially if you’re prone to hot flushes. One way to buy into this trend without compromising on comfort is with faux leather accents, such as this puff sleeve top. Of course, if you really wanted to go for it you could pair it with faux leather leggings for a rock chic look. I’ve chosen a check mini skirt and ankle boots for an outfit that’s appropriate for work on this occasion.

My red vegan leather bag picks out the red in the print of the skirt and adds a hit of colour to the outfit. (I try to avoid wearing black head to toe, especially during the day, because I don’t find it very flattering on me). The gold lion necklace helps to add some warmth near my face too.

I’m giving my charity shop bargain boots another outing (also faux leather). I’m looking forward to charity shops reopening more than any other non-essential shops. We should know more later today about the so-called “roadmap” out of lockdown. I think my Easter holiday in the sun is off the cards though…Costa del Cheshire it is for another year!

Let’s see how the other ladies in the group are styling their faux leather…

Jacqui (who chose this theme) is rocking some fabulous faux leather trousers with white boots. Head over to Mummabstylish for all the details.

Gail of Is This Mutton? has teamed her Spanx faux leather leggings with a gorgeous green coat, velvet boots and hot pink bag.

Hilda has chosen the classic combination of jeans and biker jacket in a fabulous berry tone. You can find all the details at Over the Hilda.

And finally, Anna has paired a gorgeous top with faux leather leggings – both preloved. What great finds! See more over at Anna’s Island Style.

I hope we’ve inspired you to try faux leather! We’ll be back with another fun theme on the last Monday of March…the day after the clocks go forward, woohoo!

  7. HI Emma!
I do love faux leather and have a fair amount. The puff sleeves are the perfect touch to your top! I always look for those details myself. Love the mini skirt with the red plaid – this looks great and it is so fun to see other’s faux leather, or pleather as we used to call it!
