I hope you’re all managing to stay cool in this heatwave! Last night was very hot and uncomfortable – is it just me that has really weird dreams in the heat? The temperature is forecast to drop back down to the 20s tomorrow, which will be a relief for many. Schools break up for the summer holidays tomorrow lunch time, then we’re off on a last minute break to Madeira. My dad won’t be there though, he’s staying in France for the summer, so we’ll have the apartment to ourselves. I’m looking forward to wandering around Funchal again, browsing the shops and enjoying a day at the lido.
Because this trip is very much last minute I’ve had to dig out my holiday clothes that I’d packed away, which have actually come in handy for this very hot weather at home. I bought this orange tiered sun dress for a holiday last year but didn’t end up taking it on account of already having two orange dresses in my case…whoops! I know it’s foolish to buy too many similar items (and not great for the planet) but unlike my other orange dresses, this one has sleeves…puff sleeves too! It was a bit of an impulse buy from the F&F range at Tesco (I should really focus on buying food and stay away from the clothes section!).
My first thought was to team it with turquoise accessories, but I really needed a hat because of the strong sun/frizzy hair, so I went with green instead. The Fenella Smith vegan leather bag is a great size for work, shopping and sightseeing on holiday. I have it in orange too, as well as a faux fur bag and orange purse. I discovered Fenella Smith when I collaborated with the brand last year (see that post here) and have become a repeat customer. I’ve added a green bangle and earrings, plus a really old necklace that was either my aunt’s or grandmother’s. I just know it’s been around for a very long time – since I was a child. The fruit charms are very on trend and fit in with this tropical weather we’re experiencing!
