What peculiar and unpredictable weather we’re having in the UK! One minute bright and sunny, the next heavy rain and leaden skies. It makes it difficult to know what to wear, nevermind actually taking outfit photos. We missed the brief window of sunshine with this outfit and ended up having to take them just as it started to rain.
Some days you just need to wear colour, and on this particular day I needed a bright outfit to counteract the gloom. So what better combination than pink frills, red denim and a rainbow on a stormy Summer’s day? Well, maybe the addition of an umbrella!
Nothing in this outfit is new; I’ve done a lot of online window shopping but not much actual shopping lately. I’ve previously worn this pink frill jumper with red trousers and matching Lotus shoes and bag. It’s not that I can’t think of any other colour combination, I just really like pink and red together! That was just over two years ago, which is uncanny because I’ve noticed that I often wear the same colour combinations at certain times of the year.
The fit of the sweater is not perfect – it’s a bit loose and baggy around the waist, but the frills and the colour won me over. If the jeans were a bit higher cut it would help – I can’t bear a draught around my midriff! Looking through my shoes for a pair that would match the pink of the top, I discovered these wedges that I’ve had for years. I’ve probably had them getting on for 15 years! They were a bit big for me when I bought them, but my feet seem to have expanded over the years so they’re a better fit now.
Sadly the changeable weather didn’t result in a rainbow so I had to bring my own. This Skinny Dip clutch is such a fun accessory and guaranteed to brighten up any outfit. Last time you saw it was for the rainbow themed Style Not Age post back in April last year. It’s no longer in stock, but I’ve linked to a couple in the widget below. You can also find lots of options on eBay 🙂
