If there’s one item of clothing that’s guaranteed to pull an outfit together it’s a jacket. Paired with jeans and a T-shirt, it will instantly elevate your outfit. Worn with a skirt for a more formal look, it oozes confidence and poise. Plus, when it’s still a bit too warm for a coat, a jacket will give you that extra layer without bulk.
I have a fair few jackets in a variety of colours and prints, but I’m always partial to adding another if I find one that speaks to me. Well this purple one didn’t just speak to me, it shouted at me – from the rail in a charity shop of all places. For the bargain price of £5.99 I just couldn’t resist this jacket, especially when I realised it’s Escada. I knew the name and that it’s not a cheap brand, but I got a surprise when I looked online and saw how much they sell for new – we’re talking hundreds of pounds. This has to be one of my best charity shop finds yet!
I wore this outfit to work last week, but it was something of a last minute creation. I’d planned on wearing the lace skirt but hadn’t decided what to put with it. With only five minutes left to get ready I opened the drawer and found a black sweater with a pussybow that I bought years ago from New Look. I wear it a lot for work because it goes with everything. The jacket was hanging up on the wardrobe door (it’s already full, no room left inside it!) so was close to hand. Putting the purple Escada jacket and black lace skirt together was a last minute stroke of luck, but sometimes those end up being the best outfits!
I love everything about this jacket: the vibrant purple colour, the fabric, the way it fits…it’s what I would consider an investment buy if I’d shelled out big bucks for it. Goodness knows why anyone would send it to a charity shop, but I’m glad they did! The structured design of the jacket along with the pussybow top balances out the racier element of the leather look lace skirt. I added a brooch to up the chic factor.
I wore my Tanzanite ring from Gemporia for a little extra bling, while Isobel added a big dose of cuteness. She’s been desperate to show off her own charity shop finds here on the blog, so when she saw I was wearing black lace she put her own outfit together. Both the lace T-shirt and the boho skirt were from Barnado’s for just a few pounds. She’s really into dressing like me whenever possible and for next week’s link up post we’re wearing full on matching outfits…I hope you can stop by for that 🙂

Dear Emma, what a great find! You look fabulous and this colour is wonderful. Escada is very expensive. I We found a Diane von Fuerstenberg dress in a charity shop in london, next to V.Westwoods Worlds end shop, for 14 Pounds.
In germany I found nothing.
