I’m a big believer in the power of colour to both influence and reflect my mood. I naturally gravitate towards warm colours for their mood boosting properties: orange for energy, yellow for optimism and red for confidence. If you’re facing a potentially intimidating situation in the workplace, a red trouser suit is guaranteed to make you feel more assured. I own several suits but this is my first red one. It was kindly gifted to me by Style and Suit, an online clothing brand that specialises in ready to wear tailored suits for women.
Style and Suit officially launched in March 2020, so it’s still a relatively new company. Its founder Laide says: “I like a suit that says “classy, chic, stylish, sophisticated, vibrant, confident bossbabe!” Like you can do anything. I really do feel like that when I put on a stylish suit. You really feel that sophistication with style.” Well I can certainly agree with that sentiment! This red alert trouser suit makes me feel ready for just about anything!
The suit styles are all designed to complement each other, so you can mix and match the collections. This red alert trouser suit has a fine pinstripe that gives it a businesslike feel that both compliments and contrasts the bright hue. The fabric is a polyester and cotton mix with 4% elastane for comfort and a great fit. I tried both size 10 and 12, but the best fit for me was the size 10 trousers and 12 blazer. The trousers are a little snug but the 12 was too loose on the waist. I figured that as I’m carrying a few more pounds than I’d like (thanks lockdown!) the size 10 will help to hold me accountable. A holiday in just over five weeks is also providing motivation to ditch the snacks!
Underneath the blazer I’m wearing a sheer black top with gold trim that could take the look from day to night (I’d probably keep the blazer buttoned up in the office). The leopard print heels add a touch more glamour, while the black tote bag is practical and professional-looking. For a complete day to evening transformation I’d switch the shoes for black strappy sandals, the bag for a clutch and maybe opt for a camisole top instead of long sleeves. And of course, the blazer would look great with jeans for a smart casual outfit. There are so many possibilities with a trouser suit!

I love suits, and this red pinstripe is SO cool! They would work well as separates, too, with jeans or a denim blouse!! Adorable, Emma!

Emma, I do so like your style. Red does exude power and there’s no hiding your talents when you’re wearing this color. The tone-on-tone pinstripe in the fabric of your suit is a fabulous detail. I had a red dress suit (dress and blazer) back in the day and I always got tons of compliments when I wore it.

Being a favourite last week was a lovely surprise! You look fab in the red suit. I like the fine pinstripe. A great outfit for when you’re giving a presentation and want to feel confident! X
You wear suits so well, but this one is fabulous! Full of fire and power! And the to underneath is very pretty too. I love to wear a suit! In fact, I saw a gorgeous one in green and white…… its in my cart…. lol
I don’t think I’ve ever worked anywhere where a suit was required. I do like them though. I wore a pin stripe suit to my cousin’s wedding over ten years ago. It was quite funny, because my husband wore one, I wore one, as did my dad and my brother! When we walked in, we looked as though we were part of the Mob lol!
You look fabulous. I love the idea of a red suit. I love the jacket but I’m not too keen on the trousers, though. I would prefer a much wider leg (you know I’m obsessed with wide-legged trousers lol!)
