Welcome to this month’s Style Not Age post! This month it was Jacqui’s choice to set the theme and she (rather optimistically) settled on “Flaming June”. Well, as anyone in the UK will tell you, June has been anything but flaming so far. In fact it’s been a bit of a washout. However, the forecast looks set to improve towards the end of the week so maybe I will get to use some of my Summer clothes at last!
The term “Flaming June” instantly conjured up hot colours: bright red, orange and yellow. I have plenty of those colours in my wardrobe so I knew I could pull something together fairly quickly. But rather than pick something I’ve featured recently, I decided to pull this orange Fever dress from the back of the wardrobe.
I’ve only worn this dress once before, and that was back in March 2012! On that occasion I teamed it with brown tights and boots, but I was wearing the same necklace. Looking through old blog posts reminded me of this dress, which I thought was perfect for “Flaming June”.
I’m in the process of going through all of my old posts, tweaking them for SEO and restoring the many missing images that occurred as a result of migrating from Typepad to WordPress several years ago. I know I should have done it before now, but I had difficulty finding the images as my file naming convention and folder organisation left a lot to be desired! It’s a mammoth task, but it’s all part of a refresh; you may have noticed I changed the theme again as I wasn’t happy with the previous one. I’m also having a logo and header designed, which should be ready very soon!
Anyway, back to the outfit. I wanted to stick to an exclusively hot colour palette, so I chose red accessories and jewellery. The beaded bib necklace sits just right on the neckline of the dress. This helps to create a vertical column that has an elongating effect, which you need sometimes with a form-fitting dress. A big statement necklace is also a good way of balancing out a pear shape body type. I really like this dress – now I’m wondering why I haven’t worn it for so long!

I love this sizzling look on you Emma! The dress is a classic and I can’t believe you’ve neglected to wear it for 7 years, how funny. Those shoes remind me of some cream ones I had ages ago – now where did I put them?
