Hello friends, I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather is dreadful here and I have a stinking cold…the joys of Winter! However, I did manage to take some photos for this month’s Style Not Age challenge while it stopped raining (briefly).
Hilda set the theme for November, prompting us to dig out something from our wardrobes that’s at least 10 years old. Well I definitely have more than a few items of clothing that fit the bill. But as a hoarder I have pieces much older than that; so for “Style Not Age Go Back in Fashion” I pulled out this leopard print waistcoat that I bought second hand in the early 90s.
I can’t remember exactly when I bought the waistcoat, but I think I was about 18. Back then I wasn’t very confident, so although I loved the waistcoat the moment I saw it, I never actually wore it. Even so, I’ve kept hold of it like the accomplished hoarder that I am, and yet again my hunch has paid off because now I would not hesitate in wearing it.
The label is Jean Marc Phillipe, Paris, and it was made in France. That is quite a rarity nowadays when most clothes are manufactured cheaply in the Far East. On a side note, I’ve been making a concerted effort not to buy new clothes lately and I’m actually rather liking it! I’ve found a couple of fabulous coats in charity shops that I’ll be showing you soon 🙂
My red bag is also a blast from the past; not quite as old as the waistcoat but I’ve definitely used it more. I bought it during a trip to Venice for my mum’s 60th birthday 15 years ago. The straps are looking a bit tatty now with some loose stitching, but I could easily tidy them up.
Everything else in the outfit is much newer. The black faux leather jeans and flare sleeve jumper allow the bag and waistcoat to stand out while still adding interest to the outfit. You know I have a thing for dramatic sleeves, even though they’re not always very practical 😉 And speaking of practical, I added a hat to keep the drizzly rain off my freshly-washed hair…I’m counting the days until I can get it trimmed!

I don’t think I have something that is 10 years old. I would have to look good. Love the fact that you all had! And see how stylish it still is!

Emma, this vest is brilliant! I love the sassy way you have styled it, too. How great that you bought it second hand so long ago. I have items like that in my closet, too. I have been really trying not to buy new either (although I did just cave in this week and bought a few new sweaters). But second hand is definitely the way to go these days for me!

I love this outfit Emma. It’s such a cool, edgy look. leopard print is one of my favourites. I have items which I have had for over ten years – there’s a lot I wish I hadn’t parted with over the years.

Emma, I do hope that you’re feeling a bit better now. That dratted cold hung on with me for quite a while, as did the cough – poor you! I love that pop of red featuring against this neutral background. And those leopard prints are super together. Wasn’t this a fab challenge?
This is such a chic look dear, love the matching vest and boots. Really classic.
