Well, I’m just back from a wonderful holiday in Abu Dhabi and looking through the photos I can’t help but wish I was still there. All good things must come to an end though, and tomorrow I’ll face the mountain of washing and ironing! We did a few outfit photos during the holiday which I’ll be posting over the next week or so.
I have quite a few tried and tested pieces that I always take away with me, but this time I wanted to refresh my holiday wardrobe. Fortunately, I was kindly sent this gorgeous silk gown by NK iMode just in time for my trip. The Gypsy Diva Long Gown in Ultra Violet is such a beautiful design and colour. The light and luxurious silk makes it ideal for sultry climes, while the maxi length makes it surprisingly versatile. Styling a long silk gown with streetwear, such as a denim jacket or chambray shirt (as I’ve done here) is a great way to get more wear from such an elegant garment.
The front of the gown is quite low cut so layering a shirt over it was sensible in what’s still quite a conservative country. Generally in resorts in Abu Dhabi and Dubai there is much more freedom regarding clothing for women than in public places such as shopping malls. However, I prefer to cover my cleavage and legs (when I’m not by the pool) out of respect for the cultural conventions.
I just had to show you the stretch lace section at the back though. This stunning design feature makes the gown very comfortable and means it fits perfectly. Wearing a bra is out of the question but the straps are adjustable so the girls were safely contained!

Such perfect styling, Emma. I couldn’t wear the dress as made, but adding the shirt is perfect. And silk, I love all things silks-it’s a hassle to take care of-but so worth it, isn’t it?
Thank you for picking my dress-it means a lot. When you make something it really is a part of your self expression and personal creativity -so again, thank you
The dress is gorgeous and I need this for a cruise! The color is fabulous
