The Thrifty Six are styling romance for February! Jane chose the theme because Valentine’s Day is her favourite day of the year. I went to a friend’s for a Galentine’s evening, which was a lot of fun. Our kids have grown up together, from the first day of primary school to college. How they’ve changed!
I wouldn’t say I’m in the slightest bit romantic, but I do love heart prints. This blouse by Dream Sister Jane is a favourite for Valentine’s Day. I bought it on eBay several years ago after months of searching – that seems to be the case with a lot of my clothes! I’ve worn it with red trousers before, but I wanted to style it more casually on this occasion. Dark jeans still look smart enough for a date night. Rather than ankle boots (my foot is still a bit swollen) I chose red Adidas trainers, which are perfect for a daytime look.
George was straight outside as soon as we started taking photos – he’s becoming a regular feature!

“This is Gothic Romance…
Melancholic Victoriana walks the modern runways of Paris, London and Milan.
Vampiric silhouettes fascinate the bright young things of 21st century fashion.
The sinister aesthetic captures our collective imagination through style, culture and the arts…
Lace layered over satin, a cinched waist, a demure neckline…
…velvets, silks, taffeta and damask in harmonious symphonies of darkness!
‘Romance’ is the T6 theme for February, this is ‘Gothic Romance’, a timeless beauty that will never fade…”

“My crew’s theme was to add in romantic details but not be too girly (for some reason, many women frown on that…shocking, I know). Anyway, my entire look (besides jewelry & purse) is thrifted.
It’s hard to see, but I’m wearing a tiara and long gloves…I was influenced by the movie Downton Abbey!!!”

“Romance to me is red, black, and white, satin and tulle, drizzled with some pearly goodness. Because pearls are believed to be tears of joy shed by Aphrodite, the goddess of love. My black silky floral robe is a recently thrifted beauty and I was very pleased for the chance to dress her up. My red turtleneck and black beaded necklace are also preloved thrift store finds.”

“For this month’s Romance theme, I went all in with a classic Valentine’s Day color for a “pretty in pink” version of one of my go-to winter outfit formulas! My thrifted pieces are the light pink pants, quilted vest, and pink Cheshire Cat striped scarf. I wouldn’t typically wear ballet flats with this kind of outfit, but I liked the additional feminine touch they added.”

“I’m not romantic at all, and Valentine’s Day means nothing to me. And I’m not into the color red either. Haha, but I have a pre-loved red sweater and even red ankle boots, and a red flower brooch too. Well, look, romantic enough for me!”

I love how the ruffled heart blouse looks with jeans and sneakers – a great way to casualize it!
What a fun blouse, and it works so well with the denim! I’m sure it would look really cool with purple trousers, too! I’m glad your foot is mending though swollen.

We look alike! Fabulous blouse. Funny that most of us aren’t romantics at all.
You all look so lovely!
Emma, this is such a cute festive outfit! I really love all the extra little romantic details like your earrings and your manicure. George is such a cutie. Our bunny’s name was George so that made me smile!
Shelbee
I really love your top!
