Another wonderful trip to Madeira draws to a close and as always I’m sad to leave. I would up sticks and move here in a heartbeat; the climate, friendly people and stunning landscape make it my ideal place to live. And then there’s the very reliable and cheap bus service which makes it very easy to get around without a car. It really is a gem of an island. The shopping is pretty good too!
Aside from the little independent shops which I enjoy browsing, you can find the usual big high street names too. As on mainland Portugal and Spain, Zara is cheaper than in the UK. So obviously, I have to have a little look every time I come here. As I had some birthday money to treat myself with I went to Forum Madeira after a day at the lido. I was immediately drawn to this Zara geometric print co-ord and luckily they had it in my size (Zara sizing has become a bit hit and miss lately).
I tried another co-ord set on but it didn’t fit as well as this one. Actually, I prefer these colours as they work with a lot of pieces in my existing wardrobe. The shirt is nice and airy due to the batwing sleeves, but I could swap it for a T-shirt or vest on warmer days. On the website the model is wearing the shirt knotted at the front which I could also try.
I only brought three pairs of sandals and three bags so I didn’t have much choice of accessories, but the neutral bag and gold FitFlops go with anything really. My rainbow striped headband got me out of a bad hair day fix (I have to tie it back in the heat). It either has to be a hat or headband, it’s a waste of time trying to straighten it in the wind and humidity. It helps keep me cool too!
