Black Friday is just a few days away and some brands are already offering hefty discounts in the run up to it. I’ve always approached it with caution because encouraging people to buy stuff they don’t need is bad for both the environment and our personal finances. But of course if you’re planning on buying something anyway then it makes sense to take full advantage of the price cuts. Shop wisely and you can save yourself a tidy sum on both essentials and luxury items. I’ve selected some of the best Black Friday deals from the brands I love and use on a regular basis…no fast fashion or Amazon deals here!
Let’s start with skincare because at this time of year our skin needs a little more TLC. Cold winds and being indoors more can lead to dull complexions and parched skin. During the winter I switch to more nourishing products to keep my skin hydrated and protected.
Since reviewing the 4-in-1 Cleanse and Skin Nutrients Facial Oil I’ve been a fan of the Lumity range. I use both the cleanser and the oil several times a week to give my skin a boost – the 4-in-1 Cleanse is brilliant as a mask. Lumity are offering 20% off when you spend £50, 30% off a £100 spend and 40% off orders of £250, which sounds a lot to spend but means a £100 saving! If you’re looking to invest in both the skincare and the supplements then now is the perfect opportunity! Lumity have never tested any of their products on animals and pledge to remain fully committed to protecting the planet and sustainability.
In terms of being ethical and eco-friendly, Green People are one of the best. I reviewed the Cha Vøhtz Hydra-Glow Sleep Mask and Ultimate Wonder Balm in my June Beauty Favourites post. ( Age Defy+ by Cha Vøhtz is a signature range from the founder of Green People, Charlotte Vøhtz, tailored for women aged 35+.) More recently I received a bundle of handcare products to try. Since the arrival of Covid we’ve all been having to wash our hands so much more. It was bad enough over the Summer, but now winter is almost here it’s taking it’s toll on my hands. I’ve had to be very disciplined about using hand cream regularly throughout the day, otherwise the skin around my nails goes dry and hard, which tempts me to pick at it.
The Deep-Cleansing Hand Foam is a 2-in-1 organic hand wash and on-the-go hand cleanser which helps to keep your hands feeling fresh. Made with organic Lemon Tea Tree essential oil, this citrus-fresh foaming hand wash dispenses as a light, frothy foam which can be rinsed away with water if available or will otherwise dissipate in seconds. It is free from harsh soap, SLS and alcohol because these ingredients can upset the pH-balance of the skin and leave hands feeling dry.
A hand cream that contains sunscreen is quite a rarity, but the Edelweiss & Green Tea Hand Guard boasts a generous SPF30. It’s very hydrating without being greasy, so is great for all year round. This cream is cruelty-free and reef safe but does contain beeswax so isn’t vegan. The 50ml tube is ideal for taking on holiday (remember those?).
If you prefer a scent-free hand wash and cream then you’ll love the Everyday Hand Care Set. The hand cream, which contains Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, is a great non-greasy lotion that’s suitable for all the family. The hand wash contains organic Aloe Vera for gentle cleansing that won’t strip the skin of moisture. They are certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free. Green People are offering 25% off everything until November 30th.
I’ve been using Liz Earle skincare for years and try to stock up during the sales. For Black Friday Liz Earle is offering up to 30% off with free delivery. The deals are: 15% off skincare and Christmas gifts, plus 30% off hand & bodycare, haircare and fragrance. That’s my mum’s Christmas present sorted!
You may remember my Easy Eco-Friendly Beauty Swaps post from earlier in the year. I absolutely loved all of the products I featured; the only downside is they are more expensive than their disposable/plastic counterparts. However, Ethical Superstore are holding an alternative to Black Friday, offering 20% off almost everything in store.
Five years ago they decided to do something different around Black Friday encouraging people to think of others who are in need rather than rushing out to buy that new TV. During the Food Bank Friday campaign Ethical Superstore will donate an item directly from their stock to a local food bank with every order over £30. Last year over £10,000 worth of grocery items were donated to the food bank in Newcastle as a result of the Black Friday offer.
If you’re looking to buy a loved one a beautiful gift this Christmas – or maybe treat yourself – it’s definitely worth checking out Nordgreen’s Black Friday deals. I was recently gifted this stunning gold Philosopher watch and I’m so pleased with it. (See the original post here). The face is slightly larger than my other watches, which I love (it makes it much easier to see the time). Nordgreen have partnered with three charitable organizations that focus on different global issues. Purchasing one of their watches helps to provide clean water and education for members of impoverished communities and the preservation of the Amazon rain forest.
You probably know how much I adore jewellery! Azuni is one of my favourite brands and I have probably half a dozen pieces from them in my collection. I think of it as my lucky brand because I won a bracelet and pair of earrings in a blogger’s giveaway, then a few months later won a gift card on Instagram! The jewellery is beautiful, excellent quality and affordable. Azuni are offering up to 40% off this week on certain ranges (I’ve got my eye on a couple of items!) The Dreamcatcher collection is simply stunning – take a look at the exquisite seed bead pieces on sale. And if you needed further temptation, 5% of every purchase of their artisan handcrafted jewellery goes towards supporting children through schooling in Guatemala and providing their families with food parcels.
Disclaimer: This post contains affiliates links which means I may earn a small commission for any purchases made through them. This is at no extra cost to you. Any commission generated helps towards the running costs of the blog and is very much appreciated. I have been gifted some of the products featured in this post. All words and opinions are my own and compleltely honest.
Need to check out some of these brands!
