All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go – September’s Style Not Age

I hope your week has got off to a great start. It’s feeling very autumnal now – we’ve even had the heating on. Usually I like to wait until October, but there’s no point being cold and miserable for the sake of it! The last Monday of the month means it’s time for another Style Not Age collaboration. Jacqui set the theme, and I think she anticipated the stricter Covid restrictions because “All Dressed Up With Nowhere To Go” sums the situation up rather well.

You might be thinking this theme sounds familiar…and you’d be right! I chose this theme for April’s Match Made in Seven post. Back then we had every reason to think we might be over the worst of it by now, but sadly we find ourselves almost back to square one. So we’ll have to wait a little longer to get dressed up and hit the town.

Having an excuse to put a dress and heels on – even if it is just to stand in the garden – cheers me up

Wearing nice clothes works wonders for boosting my mood, which I have to admit, has been a little low this last week or so. Having an excuse to put a dress and heels on – even if it is just to stand in the garden – cheers me up. I actually bought this yellow lace dress for a wedding a couple of years ago, but ended up wearing a very similar one in red. Plus, I also have this dress in black, which I wore for a New Year’s Eve party. I bought them all around the same time, so I was obviously going through a lace obsession!

Often I opt for metallic accessories when getting dressed up, but I wanted to experiment with a contrasting colour. I pulled these Hobbs dark red sandals out from under the bed for their debut appearance. I’ve had them ages (they were an eBay) bargain) but had never worn them before. I thought they would be uncomfortable due to the heel height, but they’re surprisingly easy on the feet. My well-used Zara bag with red and gold jewellery finished off the look.

One final touch was my gorgeous new watch from Nordgreen. This is the Philosopher model, which has a slightly bigger face than my other watches. I love the classic design and the date feature…I’m always forgetting the date and having to check my phone. The band is really easy to adjust, something I always have to do with watches because I have small wrists.

I’m a big fan of this Danish company’s aesthetic and commitment to solving social and environmental challenges around the globe. Nordgreen will be having a sale on Black Friday so do check them out – it might seem ages away but it will roll around before we know it!

I totally understand how you feel, Emma. Although situation in Australia is far better then the rest of the world, we still restricted to go to the theatre or have a big party. Love your dress a lot, and the contrast of the red shoes and a handbag. You look truly lovely in it

Yellow and lace are a winning combination on you Emma. I have moments when nothing but lace will do and even have a yellow lace dress too. Your choice of deep red as an accent colour is a playful change which works really well too! Another fab challenge in the bag x
