Happy Monday! Hilda chose this month’s Style Not Age theme of April Showers – and we’ve certainly had no shortage of those! A trench coat and hat were the first items that came to mind for this prompt. (I rarely use umbrellas because when it rains it’s usually windy as well and I’ve wrecked numerous brollies!) I’ve got several trench coats but this is the most vibrant. I bought it on eBay years ago and don’t wear it very often.
Underneath the trench coat I’m wearing a floral print blouse that I bought on Vinted. It has a lovely frill detail, which you’ll see in the photos further down. Although it has a black base – and I very rarely wear black – it has enough pastel colours in the print to avoid looking heavy. I’ve teamed it with pale pink trousers and Converse, and a lilac hat and bag. I’ve previously featured a similar outfit with another thrifted trench coat and lilac trousers. The top I wore then has a very similar print – not surprising I suppose given they’re both from Monki. A trench coat, hat and sturdy footwear is a winning formula for tackling April showers…let’s hope they bring May flowers like the saying goes!
