How are you all doing? The world is rather crazy right now and who knows when all this coronavirus mayhem will end? I suspect it will be months before our lives can get back to anything like normal. In some ways it seems frivolous to carry on posting about fashion and outfits. But I still want to read my favourite blogs and see nice outfits…it’s one thing I can still do if/when I have to self-isolate. I’m hoping you all feel the same way! So it’s pretty much business as usual here unless circumstances drastically change.
I’ve still been working and hope to carry on, because as a freelancer if I don’t work I don’t get paid. This outfit is fairly typical of what I wear for work – I generally favour trousers over skirts these days. Now the weather is a bit milder I can swap the jumpers for blouses. I took the opportunity to wear this Fabienne Chapot blouse for the first time. You probably know by now that I’m a big fan of the label, which I discovered at the-Bias-Cut.com. I paired this “Perfect Crazy Zoo” blouse with my Finery micro dot trousers for some easy business casual print mixing that’s not too OTT for the office!
My Jennifer Hamley Mini KT bag is practical and looks professional. I don’t always take my laptop to work (when I do I use one of my larger Jennifer Hamley bags) so this crossbody bag is perfect for those days.
This look calls for minimal jewellery, and these beautiful 9ct white gold aquamarine and diamond stud earrings compliment the pale blue blouse perfectly. As much as I adore big, bold earrings, sometimes understated is best. They say the best things come in small packages, and that’s definitely true of these. They are from the stunning Rosa Mer Collection at Browns, who kindly gifted me the earrings.
Aquamarine, which is the birthstone for March, is known for its connection to the sea. Historically, early sailors believed that aquamarine talismans would protect them when out at sea. Though less recognised than other gemstones, aquamarine is highly sought after due to blue stones occurring less frequently in nature. This dreamy pale blue stone is linked to new friendships, as well as affection and love, hope and health. It’s said that this gemstone can increase creativity, courage and overall happiness with its ability to combat negative energy. Exactly what we need right now!
I’m usually in flats or trainers – even for work – but I swapped the blue shoes for heels just to show you a slightly more formal look. If you prefer to wear heels for work you could wear the flats for the commute and swap at the office. Thankfully I can wear whatever I want for work but I do like to distinguish between office and home outfits.

Great work look!
I *am* still working, though a little intermittently, I’ll know better in two weeks what the immediate future holds…and in the meantime I’m looking for other ways to make money from home (like probably half the world is right now).
Be safe!
Thanks Bettye! I hope you manage to keep working and stay safe xx
I have to admit that I love the light blue shoes with this outfit even better than the heels. And I’m usually a heel girl. But that blue makes such a fun statement.

Your “perfect crazy zoo” print blouse kind of says it all for this challenging time! I love your mix of patterns and the blue shoes and heels both work beautifully. I’m glad you can keep working–take care.
xx Darlene
Thanks Darlene! Yes it’s a most bizarre and alarming time right now. Take care xx
I have necklaces from Browns and I love them! The earrings are really pretty too. I love the trousers Emma, the tailoring looks really good. I’ve been meaning to try Finery for some time. Stay safe out there xx
Thanks Laurie! I have quite a few pieces from Finery – you can pick up some real bargains in their sales. Take care xx
I am loving the subtle print mixing here! But I absolutely love those beautiful flats! And your nails match perfectly!
I love the blue flats. I have the song “Blue suede shoes” from Elvis Preley in my mind immediately. We aren’t on lockdown in Singapore, so my hubby is still going to work. They have a few day’s home office in the last two weeks. As the number of cases is going higher last days, maybe it will be more now. We are waiting for the management decision. Stay safe.

I love print mixing more and more! This is a great combination. Love the touches of blue in the earrings and the shoes. Stay safe my friend! Oh and thank you so much for the feature!
Great work outfit, I use a very similar formula – statement blouse (often from the Bias Cut!), trousers, and statement shoes! I love those pale blue loafers. It’s fun to go back to “real” shoes after so long wearing ankle boots and trainers.
I really love your pants!

I am feeling that same sense of frivolity, but I think we all need a positive distraction so I am going to keep going with my posts as normal. Although as a freelancer I am noticing a huge drop in my income right now. I love your outfit with the subtle print mixing and those beautiful blue loafers! So pretty. What stunning earrings, too. Stay safe and healthy, my friend!

You absolutely should keep posting if you’re up for it. Blogging and blog reading are two safe activities! As for me, I am fortunate to be retired – and introvert, so that being confined isn’t an issue for me.
I love your mixed print professional outfit. The aquamarine earrings are really pretty. It is one of my favorite stones.

I love the print and the light blue color. The subtle print mixing is lovely and I love the light blue flats. Your earrings are dainty and very pretty. I agree about blogging, I need something that makes me feel good and that I enjoy- this is something i can control.
Hope you are well.

Love all items of this outfit with a special mentioning of the blue shoes and earrings. Very pretty. And what splendid ears and earlobes you have! This might sound silly but 5 months ago I had the holes in my earlobes “sewn up” again. The holes were long and too far to the bottom and my earlobes aren’t firm anymore. It is then that you start seeing these things with other women haha. Another 3 months and I will have them pierced again.
