Hello, I hope you all had a great weekend! Isobel has gone back to school today for the first time since lockdown began in March. Being alone in the house feels a little bit weird! It will give her the opportunity to see her friends before they go off to different high schools. It’s hard to believe she’s almost finished primary school!
It was Anna’s turn to set June’s Style Not Age theme, and she chose “Check Me Out!”. That gave me the perfect opportunity to wear my new houndstooth trousers from Zara. I was initially planning to team them with my Scotch & Soda red blouse (featured last week) and Pom Amsterdam bugs jacket. But then I tried this yellow top with them and thought it looked more appropriate for Summer. I love to add a hit of colour when I’m wearing mainly black and white, just to break it up.
That prompted me to reconsider the black jacket, and I remembered that I’d bought this houndstooth jacket from eBay a few months ago. It’s a nice soft jersey, so ideal for Summer. It’s not the exact same houndstooth print as the trousers but it’s not far off. You can only tell close up that the white of the trousers is a little bit brighter. The fabric is different too, it’s a kind of tweed texture. I wouldn’t want to wear them on a very hot day, but we seem to be getting a real mixture of weather lately. In Winter I’ll wear them with long boots and a thicker jacket or coat.
I added the polka dot bag for a fun pattern play on the black and white theme. Apart from the top, the only other pop of colour is the yellow bangle.

Gail of Is This Mutton? has worked pink into her check outfit…I love the belted jacket over the graphic T-shirt.
Jacqui is looking fresh and Summery in a check shirt, tied loose to show off that amazing statement necklace. Head over to Mummabstylish for all the details.
Hilda has opted for a chic neutral colour palette with checked trousers and a lovely embellished jumper. Those trainers are right up my street! See the full post at Over the Hilda.

It’s amazing that your trousers and jacket are actually separates, it really looks like a trouser suit! I love the houndstooth with the polka dots bag – and the yellow top is the perfect splash of colour.
I agree with Gail – you would think the two separates were actually a suit! You look fabulous. Particularly love the trousers. I was looking at a very similar pair yesterday but I didn’t buy them because I wasn’t keen on the fabric. I’m kinda wishing now that I had lol!

Love how you’ve managed to match the jacket and trousers – great idea and it works well. I ended up enjoying this challenge and am really pleased with mine take on it. Have a super week. Glad Isobel got on well at school. My grand-daughter too had her first day back at school – it’s done her the world of good and is really chatty about it (unlike normal) I’m so pleased my daughter and SIL decided to let her return. I’m worried there will be so many repercussions because of lock-down! Jacqui x
I have always loved and worn houndstooth. It’s such a classic werkervaring print. And I have the same trousers! Love this theme, all the other ladies look amazing too!
You all look absolutely fabulous!. Love your outfit a lot Emma, the pants and the jacket made a perfect pant suit. Love your shoes and the injection of this pale soft yellow colour adds just the right amount of contrast.

You look incredible!! I’m adoring this gingham look and the way you paired it with the polka-dot purse!!! And- the other bloggers are looking pretty fabulous too xx
I really thought that this was a suit when I first saw it. But much as I love it, I’m afraid that the polka dot handbag is the winning piece here! Fabulous styling as ever Emma x
Thanks Anna!
