The last Monday of the month means it’s time for another Style Not Age collaboration! Hilda chose the theme of Cosy Winter Coats, which was an easy one for me as I have lots of them. A lot of my coats, including this orange one, are second hand.
I saw a coat just like this one in a charity shop ages ago, but unfortunately it wasn’t my size. Then about a year or so later I spotted this one on eBay and bagged it for a tenner. Obviously the colour orange was the thing that caught my eye, but I love the contrasting leopard print collar too.
In order to let the orange take centre stage I kept the rest of the outfit simple in terms of colour. The black velvet trousers are winter favourites of mine, and the leopard print top matches the collar. I’ll be honest about my reason for wearing the velvet turban; it was a very bad hair day as I was due to dye it before going on holiday. I couldn’t get to my fedoras in the wardrobe because Pete was asleep feeling poorly, so I grabbed the turban from a drawer in “Blog HQ” aka “The Disaster Room”. The black velvet matches the trousers so I could have got away with it, but you know, I like to keep it real! Anyway, I was quite pleased with how it turned out, all things considered.
I had to persuade Isobel to take the photos, and somehow we managed to get some without my head missing! It was a very last minute photo shoot when I realised I had to get them done before going on holiday. I couldn’t really bring a winter coat to Madeira!
