Remember when H&M released the Iris Apfel collection and it sold out in a nanosecond? Well, I didn’t manage to bag anything then but I have been monitoring eBay for any pieces from the collection that are reasonably priced ever since. Immediately after everything sold out – and I mean literally minutes after – items were already being listed at outrageously inflated prices. I abhor that kind of behaviour so I sat on my hands and waited for the prices to come down. There was no way I was going to pay more than the original price so I knew I was in for a long wait. But as always, patience pays off!
Buying these trousers was a bit of a gamble because I had no idea if they ran true to size. They are a size 10 and they are on the generous side, especially on the waist. But they have belt loops so I’m looking for a suitable belt to wear with them. There were three jackets in the H&M x Iris Apfel collection: yellow and purple ruffled ones that looked like bath scrunchies, and a shaggy green faux fur number, much like the one I’m wearing. Mine was much cheaper though – a bargain at £39.99 from TKMaxx! It’s by Forever Unique, so a decent brand. In the true spirit of Iris I wanted this outfit to be flamboyant so I wore my frilly blouse for a double dose of green. I’m sure frills and faux fur is a combination Iris would approve of!
The ruffles on the blouse meant that I couldn’t wear the stacked necklaces Iris is known for. As an alternative, I added sunglasses with a chain. My Stan Smiths pick out the white in the print of the trousers and add a practical element to an otherwise ostentatious ensemble. Remember – more is more and less is a bore!

Ugh, I absolutely HATE when people buy a ton of stuff from a collection just to turn around and sell it online for exorbitant prices! Glad you outwitted them though—those trousers were worth the wait!

Great outfit! I love the electric green hue. It just shows you every time they have a collaboration collection people buy it and then hack it online for more money than ever that’s a crime in itself. Happen with Balmain as well. Have a great week 🙂

OMG, Emma, this outfit is magnificent! I do believe that Iris would approve 100%! In fact, my first thought at the first image of this post before I read any words was “Oooh, she looks like Iris Apfel and I love i!” How fun that this look was inspired by her. You are just as fabulously unique and as marvelously stylish as Iris herself!

There were a few things I liked in the Iris collection but it all sold out so quickly. Also, I’m not quite as brave as you when it comes to flamboyant fashion (you ALWAYS rock it!!), so I haven’t been looking out for any of it on eBay. You look fabulous, by the way. It’s a shame that the trousers came up a little big though.
Big hugs
Suzy xx
Fabulous outfit Emma! You do flamboyant so well, it looks great on you. Love that you took your inspiration from Iris, and made it your own. Those trousers are such a unique print-well worth the wait. Thanks for sharing!

Oh i LOVE this look! SO fun. This color looks great on you and love the contrast with your hair. Just love. Where did you get your sunnies? I tried a chain in Paris but it was for a phone and too heavy for sun glasses.

You totally rock this look Emma. As you may know, I didn’t/couldn’t wait and so paid over the odds for my suit. That said, i don’t regret it as cost per wear is already working out fine. I totally love your fluffy jacket and have hunted high and low for something similar. Lucky you! xxx
