I’m back in Funchal…my third visit this year! The man at immigration who checked my passport seemed rather surprised when he saw the previous stamps! We’re just here for a few days over half term. It’s Pete’s birthday on Thursday so we took advantage of some reasonably priced last minute flights. My dad and step mother are out here too, so after a couple of nights in a hotel we are going to stay with them for two nights. The Wi-fi in the hotel is terrible, which is why this post is a day late.
The weather has been a bit disappointing; it’s been mostly cloudy with some rain. It’s still warm though, although I gather it’s quite mild back home too. Walking around Funchal centre and exploring the shops is always an enjoyable pastime when the weather is not so good. In fact, I bought this green jumpsuit here back in April. I wore it for a trip around Funchal in a tuktuk. It’s really comfortable and a “one and done” outfit. All I need to do is add accessories and I’m ready to go. That’s the best kind of outfit when you’re travelling (bathroom issues notwithstanding). Actually, it’s really easy to get on and off so I don’t have to worry about that.
When I’m packing to go away I try to stick to a colour palette – orange and green usually feature prominently. Of course, there are always things I want to bring with me that don’t fit neatly into that, which is where the temptation to overpack comes in. With only having one suitcase between the three of us (and small hand luggage), I had to be quite disciplined. I did stick mostly to my packing plan, although the changeable weather made that challenging.
Teaming the green jumpsuit with orange accessories incorporates my favourite holiday items and go-to colour combination. (I also bought the orange crossbody bag here on the same day as the jumpsuit). My hat has already been to Barbados once and Madeira three times – and I only bought it in April! The chain has come unstuck and keeps falling off so I will have to fix that. I was thinking that I could tie a scarf around it instead if that doesn’t work – that way I can switch it up to co-ordinate with the rest of my outfit. I’m always looking for ways to get more wear out of my clothes and accessories!

Those bright colours look so damn good on you! And what a treat to be there again. I will say the same thing in a few weeks about Rye, lol. Have a lovely time and happy birthday for Pete tomorrow.
Love the versatility of the jumpsuit. It’s a great vibrant colour and the accessories go so well together. You can be comfortable and wear it dressy or casual. 🙂

Emma, this is a great outfit. You look fabulous and ready for whatever the day may bring. I also try to plan my travel wear based on mix and match pieces which means settling in a color palette. My choices tend to evolve around denim, black, and neutrals with a color pop in accessories.

What fabulous pictures! I’ve pinned the first one, I really love the jumpsuit! Yes I do stick to a colour palette when I go away, and it’s easier now I’ve had my colours analysed- all the colours go together. Chuffed to be one of last week’s favourites! xx
I love this shade of green on you! The orange is a great accent color too – unexpected but looks amazing!
I hope you are having a great week so far!

Beautiful photos, Emma! I love the orange and green color combination and this jumpsuit looks amazing on you! I try to create tiny capsule wardrobes for travel in coordinating colors as well but I am a chronic over-packer, too. That struggle is real! And I love the idea of tying a scarf around your hat. I do that often to add a little extra to an outfit when I wear a brimmed hat! I am glad you got away to such a gorgeous place!

The green and orange is a great combination! And it looks beautiful there. It’s always such a job to do minimalist packing when the weather can be unpredictable. I’ve never done packing by color, but that’s a great idea!

Sucha. fabulous colour combo, Emma! I don’t usually stick to one colour combination when I’m packing, but I do try and find items that all go together!
