Go Red For February – Style Not Age

Go Red For February - Style Not Age, Zara red boucle blazer, Oliver Bonas red House of Cats T-shirt, River Island gold barrel leg jeans

It’s the month of Valentine’s Day and the start of the year of the fire horse, so Hilda’s theme of Go Red For February is very timely. My Chinese zodiac sign is the tiger, but I’m wearing cute kittens rather than fierce big cats. I couldn’t resist this T-shirt in the Oliver Bonas January sale, even though the cats look a bit bored! Mine would never tolerate wearing those red bows – I bought them collars which lasted all of ten seconds!

This outfit is a twist on the classic combination of jeans, a T-shirt and blazer, swapping blue denim for gold barrel leg jeans. The gold trainers help to create a leg lengthening effect; darker footwear can make my legs look shorter with the cropped barrel style of trousers. I’ve kept things simple with just two colours. Adding a little brown or burgundy would work, maybe with a belt. I don’t own many slim belts, I just never think to wear them with jeans. I completed the outfit with my red vegan leather bag from LaBante and gold jewellery.
