How was your weekend? Storm Dennis blew in and damaged our TV aerial, but other than that we escaped quite lightly. I’m travelling down to Cambridgeshire today to stay with my mum, so I’m hoping for quiet journey. Pete just got a new car today (I decided not to take it though…I need to get used to it before a long journey) and it’s yellow! So today’s outfit of bright yellow and houndstooth is quite fitting for the occasion!
I bought this skirt in Zara when I was in Madeira in October. However, when I got home I noticed that it had a button missing. Unfortunately it didn’t have a spare one attached to the label so I had to track another one down at the Trafford Centre. It wasn’t easy though – it was showing in stock online but I couldn’t find any in the shop. It turned out that they were still in the stock room so I had to ask someone to get me one. Anyway, it was worth the bother, especially as it was so much cheaper in Madeira than in the UK.
Whenever I wear black and white I love to add a bright colour into the mix. Red is usually my preferred choice, but I decided to try bright yellow instead this time. I added a yellow bag for a double hit of sunshine and topped it off with a black jacket that I bought in a charity shop. The black and white marble earrings complement the skirt and provide a focal point in the absence of a necklace.

I really like that skirt. Normally, this houndstooth fabric would be on something cut more conservatively. I really like the raw edged look of it.
You look gorgeous in this outfit! The yellow top and bag look amazing with the black and white houndstooth print! I think pretty much any color would look great with black and white but really loving the pop of color on this look! Glad you were able to get a replacement skirt!
Thanks for hosting the linkup!

I really like it with the bright yellow! I’ve tried houndstooth with bright pink, but not yellow yet. This is beautiful!
I’d definitely wear these together – it’s a nice bright feel for cold wintery days. Thanks for hosting the #linkup too. Jacqui x

So cute! Love the skirt. I always struggle with what to wear with black and white and usually just wear a solid black and white with it.
Thank you Amy!
I really like your houndstooth skirt, but the Yellow is what make me smile!

Emma, this skirt is so fabulous! I am glad you were able to replace the missing button. I also love adding red to a black and white outfit. But any bright color will do! However, I cannot wear this shade of yellow the way you do! So fun and bright and cheerful! Well done. Thanks for linking up with me and Monica at Your Own Twist!
