If I Were a Handbag…February’s Style Not Age

February 28, 2022

When Anna announced the title of this month’s theme I was left scratching my head! (I’m not referring to nits btw). The rather enigmatic prompt of “If I Were a Handbag” is not the easiest one to interpret – well, not for me anyway. However, after some thought I decided to take colour inspiration from my Angel Jackson bag. I’ve previously worn it with these jeans and this jacket (almost four years ago to the day!). But this time I swapped the roll neck jumper for this fabulous Soul Sisters T-shirt. I love the gold lip motif, and the red writing picks out the red in the bag.

I’ve highlighted the other colours in the bag with my jacket, sunglasses and jewellery. I found the yellow heart bracelet in a charity shop a few years ago. It’s by Les Néréides – one of my favourite jewellery brands. It has the colours of the French flag on a bead on the inside, which you’ll see further down. The bag was a splurge purchase almost ten years ago. I think it was only stocked by one retailer based in the U.S but I wanted it so badly that I decided to treat myself. I’m typically not one for expensive handbags, but this one was an exception. At the time, pop art was enjoying a revival and the design of this bag reflects that. I bought this pop art top around the same time but Isobel has laid claim to it now!

Let’s see my stylish friends’ take on the “If I Were a Handbag” theme…

Anna’s showstopper of a bag is fluffy on one side and smooth on the other, representing the two sides of her personality. Head over to Anna’s Island Style to read more about it.

Hilda has borrowed a fabulous green tote bag from the Irish designer Julie Peelo. It’s also available in blue, pink and orange…I want them all! Visit Over the Hilda for more details.

Jacqui is showcasing her new satchel bag with a snake print dress and pretty pale blue jumper. You can see more of this look at Mummabstylish.

Gail of Is This Mutton has chosen a fabulous red bag with co-ordinating boots, belt and scarf. I love the unusual shape of the bag!

That’s all for this month’s Style Not Age, we’ll be back on the last Monday of March with another fun theme! Hope to see you tomorrow for the #stylewithasmile link up!

  2. Love the colors and shapes! THis represents you for sure with your colorful outfit and mix of colors. All I could think of when you said the title was the melody “If I were a Rich Man” from Fiddler on the Roof ! LOL.. instead , If I were a Handbag!
The accessories are the perfect addition and I love that jacket!
