Lobster Trousers By the Sea + Style With a Smile Link Up

I’m back from my trip to France but still not quite back in the swing of things. After an early flight yesterday, I had a big sleep in the afternoon (too long really), then woke up very early today. We had a wonderful time staying with my dad and step mum. It’s so peaceful there in the countryside on the north coast of Brittany. I slept so well, probably due to all the fresh air, as well as not staring at a screen all day. Not having internet 24/7 was frustrating at times, but I’m sure it did me good. A partial digital detox rather than going completely cold turkey!

We had plenty of beach time, a hike along the cliffs, a little bit of shopping, and we met up with friends who happened to be camping further along the coast. We met in the very pretty town of Paimpol, where we’d also been the previous day when we took these photos. I thought it was fitting to wear my lobster trousers by the sea with all the boats in the background. I’d bought them a couple of days before at the local market. The fabric is a lovely soft cheesecloth, perfect for warm weather. I was glad I’d taken my red Scotch Soda shirt, which pairs well with it.

Instead of a backpack, I took my Lulu Guinness tote bag as my cabin bag on this trip. It’s plenty big enough to fit my laptop in, as well as my jewellery, sunglasses and hair styling tools. I always use a crossbody bag too for easy access to my purse, phone and passport. This tote bag matches a lot of my outfits and also doubles as a beach bag. Having both long and short handles is a big bonus.

I treated myself to some new FitFlops for this trip because they’re so comfortable thanks to the supportive footbed. I’ve probably got six or seven pairs now and these are my current favourites. They strike the perfect balance between practicality and style. Metallic tones work with lots of outfits, while the decorative stone detail elevates them beyond a simple flip flop. I packed quite sensibly for this trip, with only one dress and two shorts and vest sets unworn. That’s a result for me!
