Welcome to the monthly edition of Match Made in Seven! We are an international group of fashion bloggers who meet once a month. One of us chooses a theme in turn, and that can be anything. A book, music, a color, a movie – and then we style an outfit based on that theme. This month Debbie chose the theme of “Accessories Make the Look”!
In theory this should have been a breeze for me with so many accessories to choose from, but I think maybe I was spoilt for choice; I tried several different outfits on, including a fit and flare dress and a jumpsuit, but wasn’t happy with either. Finally I decided upon this black dress and faux fur stole.
I decided to wear black to let the accessories take the limelight, which had me raiding the back of the wardrobe. I’ve had this dress ages but never got around to wearing it. You can just about see the frill detail in the photo below (it was too cold to take the stole off!). I was planning on teaming it with leopard print shoes and bag, but when I couldn’t find my leopard print clutch I chose snakeprint instead. In hindsight, I think snakeprint works better anyway.
To say I’ve been waiting a long time to wear these sunglasses is an understatement. They are from a collaboration Anna Dello Russo did with H&M years ago. I bought these rather OTT shades and a turquoise clutch, which I have used before. But I just never found the occasion to wear these sunglasses, given that they’re likely to raise a few eyebrows. Diamante encrusted lizards might be considered a little decadent! But now I’ve actually photographed them I’m more inclined to wear them…well it’s a shame to keep them hidden away!

Not content with lizards on my shades and snakeprint shoes and clutch, I’m also wearing an enamel ring with a diamante frog. It’s not often I manage to combine reptiles, amphibians AND faux fur all in one outfit!

That outfit is amazing, Emma! Movie star glamour, for sure! And I agree, the black dress is the perfect background for your accessories. The bag and the sunglasses add that extra touch to your elegant dress. Nicely done!
