Today’s outfit is a flashback to Barbados, which was only just over a month ago but feels like much longer. I bought this dress just a few days before my holiday from a local boutique (where I also bought my orange hat). It was actually this multi print kaftan dress that caught my attention in the shop window and prompted me to go in. I ended up buying several items, including a jumpsuit and some trainers for Isobel.
At first I wasn’t sure if the style suited me as the dress is one size and very loose. But I loved the print so much that I decided I would try it with a belt. As it happened, I’d bought this beaded elasticated belt in Madeira last October, and the colours match really well. That’s the trick with mixing patterns, you can wear two very different prints if they share the same colours. A belt in a solid colour which picks out one of the shades in the print would also work. Teaming the dress with a tan belt and sandals would create a more muted look.
These blush pink sandals go with most outfits and they are so comfortable, so I take them on every holiday. Sometimes wedge espadrilles can be a bit rough and rub sore patches but these are perfect. If Coast decide to bring these back in other colours I’ll definitely get some more!
As we had to shoot these photos indoors (it gets dark quite early in Barbados) the lighting isn’t great. I’m sure I’ll be wearing this multi print kaftan dress much more over the summer though, so expect to see it again. There are limited options to styling a bold print dress like this, that’s part of its attraction as a holiday outfit – it’s pretty much a one and done look. It doesn’t have buttons all the way down so I can’t wear it as a duster. However, I do like to change accessories, and when I wear it during the day I can add a hat, sunglasses and a brightly coloured bag. Now I just need some glorious sunny weather!

I know I always say this, but your skin and makeup look beauitful! I may need some tips! The dress is so pretty, I love the colors and the pattern is 70s and perfect for you! I just bought a rather flowy dress on Poshmark, and it is a bit big, but I may add a belt…
Have a great week!

This looks like something I’d wear. It’s striking, stunning and just gorgeous. Thanks for hosting the linkup too Emma. x
Emma, I am dying over this magnificent dress! I would have bought it, too, just for the fabulous print! Your beaded belt is perfect with it. I love the subtle print mix it added. A dress this awesome doesn’t need much! I would probably style it for cooler weather with combat boots and either a chunky sweater or leather jacket…give it a Shelbee Edge! Haha.
