I’m having a bit of a polka dot moment; following hot on the heels of yesterday’s Thrifty Six post (where we showcased our preloved shoes) I’m going dotty again! I’d describe this print as a cross between polka dots and animal print because the spots aren’t uniform in shape and size. I’d been looking for a top like this for a while after seeing an outfit on Pinterest that I wanted to recreate. I used to find a lot of outfit inspiration on Pinterest but now my feed seems to be mostly recipes and adverts.
Instagram is now my preferred social media platform, but even that isn’t as much fun as it used to be. It has become increasingly hard to grow my account over the last year or so. I gain a few followers only to lose more the next day. Maybe it’s the algorithm or my hashtags, but having random men follow and then unfollow really doesn’t help.
Anyway, I digress. I bought these trousers from Asos a few months ago (another pair that’s too long!) because I’d been wanting some in a pale, sugary pink for ages. The length meant I needed to wear heels, although when I get them taken up I’ll wear them with trainers. I remembered that I have a pair of shoes in a similar print to the top, and after rummaging under the bed I managed to find them. (Turns out they weren’t under the bed after all!) The proportions of the pink wide leg trousers and polka dot top work well together because there is volume at the top and the bottom which accentuates the waist. With a high necked, voluminous top you need to define the waist if you’ve got a larger bust. I think a belt would improve this outfit, but they are often an afterthought with me!
My really old glass ring that I bought in Sorrento matches the top really well. I toyed with the idea of using my black anad white polka dot bag, but I like that this crossbody has a red accent which breaks up all the white, black and pink.
These shoes are hellishly uncomfortable, I can’t believe I actually wore them to work once or twice. They are definitely sitting shoes now!

Who said that pink is not the fall season color? Emma, you look stunning in those pink trousers! I also love the mix of blouse, shoes, and sunglasses prints. Great combination! Thank you very much for featuring me in your post! Have a wonderful day!
Love those wide legs. I’m having a wide lag pants moment here too. And how your sunglasses match our top-too cool!
You always seem to find such lovely accessories. That ring is just perfect for the outfit. And the wide legged trousers are so cool. I have the save with IG. I think I lose about 30 every week at the moment. But I do like IG for the rest!
Oh wow, Emma, this combination is so great! I love the sugary pink pants with all the black and white prints. And the little splash of red on your bag is perfect with your nail polish. Those shoes are so adorable and sometimes the price we pay for adorable is that we get sitting shoes! What a fun and feminine and joyful outfit!

I love this outfit! It’s so much fun. Pink, black, and white is a wonderful color combination. Pink is not a good color me, so I have to live vicariously through those who can. Fabulous!

Gorgeous outfit Emma. the trousers are so chic especially in this lovely hue. My latest outfit was totally inspired by you. Check it out here https://lookingfabulousat50.blogspot.com/2020/09/how-i-styled-faux-leather-pants.html
I hear you on the social media fatigue—Instagram feels like a sea of sameness and Pinterest feels very repetitive too. I still find most of my style inspiration from blogs! And speaking of which, I love how the polka dots on your blouse are more abstract—very chic!

So pretty!! I love the pants with heels- they will also look good for sure with trainers though:) And that cute ring!!!
The shade of pink of those pants is so pretty! I hear you with instagram. It’s been tough and my follower count goes up and down and down again. It’s frustrating!
Emma, I absolutely adore this outfit!! That dot pattern has been so trendy lately and I really love it. I feel the same way about Pinterest – now it’s just filled with stuff I don’t want to see! And weird men following on Instagram is always so annoying… Too bad the shoes are uncomfortable because they’re super cute! I just love the soft pink and black and white of this look.
