One of the best things about this time of year is wearing boots. I have many pairs of boots in different styles and colours, but I can always be tempted to add to my collection! My blogger friends also share my love of boots and are showcasing some fabulous styles for this month’s link up! Yes, our boots were made for talkin’ (about)!
I usually prefer darker colours, but I’d been looking for a pair of white or cream knee boots for a while when I spotted these on sale. At less than half price they were too good to resist! I really like the chain detail on the heel…and they make a change from brown and black!
Actually, I had several pairs of boots in mind for this post but went with these because they have a block heel – my garden is so boggy with all the rain we’ve had. My gorgeous gold kitten heel and red satin boots will have to wait for better weather! Although I have no reason whatsoever to get dressed up I decided to wear this Baukjen dress rather than jeans. I bought it on eBay last year but haven’t worn it before. It’s a tight fit on the ribs and I thought I might not get the zip done up, but perseverance paid off!
Unfortunately you can’t see the pretty faux crystals that the neck tie is obscuring (I wish I’d got a close up). They look like buttons but are just there for show…well, when you can see them! This is the first piece from Baukjen I’ve bought so the sizing was a bit of gamble. I’ve seen other bloggers wearing Baukjen – Laurie features the brand regularly, and I can totally see her wearing this outfit! I rarely wear head to toe neutrals but I was surprised by how much I liked this outfit.
SHOP THE LOOK
When we went up to Mow Cop to shoot the photos for the Gothic Romance Style Not Age theme, I wore this coat over the black dress. It’s another charity shop find and probably one of my best yet! I almost didn’t buy it but I just couldn’t leave it. I’ve got lots of coats and didn’t really need another one but I’m so glad I bought it now!
It must be quite old because it’s by C&A – a high street chain that closed in the UK years ago. A coat like this new would be quite expensive, so at less than £10 I got a great deal. The hood is detachable and the coat is fully lined. It fits so well and keeps me warm – the winds up on Mow Cop were very chilly but I was lovely and cosy in this coat. At first I thought it might look a bit odd having boots and a coat in the same shade, but I love the monochromatic look.
We’re less than a week into a four-week lockdown and the thing I miss the most is not being able to browse charity shops. The day before all the non-essential shops shut again, I had a little splurge in my favourite charity shop and picked up some amazing bargains. I’ll be featuring them here soon!

“Boots are my very favorite footwear ever. I am always drawn toward bold statement boots, too. It was so hard to choose which pair to feature for this month’s theme, but I finally settled on these over the knee lace boots from Shoe Dazzle, one of my favorite places to shop for shoes. I bought these a few years ago and they were really tight around the calves, but after losing a few pounds they now fit perfectly. I paired them with a long forgotten taupe chiffon and lace dress from a few years ago. Recently, I have not had much reason to get dressed at all let alone dressed up, so I used this style prompt as a reason to go all out dressy!”
“Can a girl have too many boots? Why of course not!!! That poses a dilemma as to which to post for this month’s theme as I love all types of boots and have various styles in various colors! I’ve opted to share several boot styles that I thought I’d never wear…never say never! Actually, I thought I’d never wear over the knee boots as I felt they made the tops of my thighs look too thick – like muffin top but thigh top – LOL! I know I’m late to the OTK boots but hey better late than never. I also thought combat boots weren’t for me. While I thought others could pull them off well, I just wasn’t feeling them. That is until I found a Jessica Simpson embellished pair with rhinestone buckles! If it sparkles and shines, I’m all about it!”
“I adore boots and especially ankle boots! These gun metal ankle boots are one of my favorite! Actually, I love all of my ankle boots. It’s a addiction, lol.”
“I’m styling my absolute favorite taupe suede block heel boots. I’ve had them for several years and love them for both their versatility (I mean…the color goes with everything!) and their comfort! I have a wide calf, so finding boots to fit is a challenge for me. I don’t mind splurging when I find a pair that fits!”
“Everyone needs a classic boot; a workhorse that you can wear every day, day or night – season after season. I own 2 pairs of this classic block heel boot, one brown, the other black from Tory Burch. And though they look alike, they are actually quite different. Yes, they DO have the same heel (which I LOVE), but the brown pair is a slouch tall boot – the black, a side zip classic black boot. I rarely purchase anything in doubles, but these boots are that good.”
“It was like you switched a button. From one day to the other fall turned to winter – Alaska winter. We are breaking one negative temperature record after the other. Today in the morning, it was -32C (-25.6F). The old record was -24C (-11.2F) in 1999. Average high is -5C (23F) and average low is -13C (8.6F). Well, obviously, that’s weather, not climate. And it means boots are a Must when you want to wear a skirt. Well, I am a die-hard skirt and dress gal. Thus, I bite the bullet.”
“I love a good pair of boots to create a seasonal look even though the weather isn’t cool.”
“Oh I am dying over this boots and booties post because that’s what I wear for six months here in Michigan. Today I styled my new faux suede taupe ruched boots by Target in a monochrome grey and taupe look that matches my leafy background. These boots looked so good with my grey moto jeans from Nordstrom (old) and my leopard tunic sweatshirt by Abercrombie (new). The mauve mini velvet crossbody bag added an additional texture to the look and I love the mild print-mixing with my herringbone newsboy cap.”

Emma, I love this neutral look on you! It is totally something I could see Laurie wearing as well. What a fabulous print on your dress. And those boots are to die for! I have lots of white/ivory short boots but no tall ones and now I want some! I am also in a complete swoon over your amazing handbag. And that coat is marvelous as well. Such a pretty outfit! I am waiting for the second lockdown to happen in the US. It has to be coming soon!

I almost never wear neutrals either, but as soon as I saw your outfit I loved it. It’s so in balance. Loooove those boots. And the coat! What a good one. Very chique and yet casual of the hoodie.
The print in your dress is just so pretty and interesting. You pulled off this neutral look perfectly!
