Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. The Stylish Monday gang are back with another fun collaboration, and this month’s theme is Sizzlin’ Backyard BBQ Style! It wasn’t quite BBQ weather where I live over the weekend; it’s been mostly grey and humid with a bit of rain thrown in for good measure. Typical midsummer British weather! It was much nicer midweek when we took these photos though. This cotton jumpsuit is ideal for changing temperatures. I first wore it on the blog last August when Isobel joined me. I find it more practical than a dress for preparing food, plus when I have to turn my back on guests they get to see the fabulous sequin parrot!
Your eyes do not deceive you – I am in fact attempting to cook fresh air! I bet Pete never thought I’d use his beloved BBQ as a photo prop! It’s a bit of a cliché but the BBQ is his domain – I’m not that interested in it to be honest. He keeps a designated area of it for my vegan burgers and sausages though. Now Isobel is vegetarian he’s outnumbered as a meat eater! I’m quite partial to a vegetable kebab with peppers, mushrooms, courgettes and onions. And of course, there has to be plenty of salad and nice fresh bread, maybe some rice or couscous too. What’s your favourite BBQ food?

“Serving up some white scalloped shorts and a gingham top with ruffled shoulders for some backyard BBQ fun! Shorts over 50 (well I actually just turned 60)…why not? Gingham is always a great choice in the summer and says backyard summer fun! Wear what you love and feel confident in and you’ll always look amazing!”
“We had a backyard barbecue at my neighbor’s house a few weeks back, so I photographed what I actually wore to her house…this amazing new tie dye dress that has been in constant rotation since I got it back in May. I am also sharing swimsuit photos in my post…do pop by my blog to see it all!”
“This month’s Stylish Mondays calls for BBQ attire- and this is exactly what I’d style up for enjoying a cook out amongst friends and family. Summer and sunshine want me in bright yellow! Love me some bright happy colour under a large brim hat, cool drinks, great company and delicious food- I’m ready!”
“Hosting a summer BBQ is one of the joys of summer. From choosing just the right recipes, tableware and what to wear. Today I am sharing BBQ favorites including an airy hostess dress everyone looks great in.”
“Bbq style to me means a thrifted striped dress and plaid bag that is thrifted too. Sneakers are a must too while at a bbq.”
“Nothing screams summer more than barbecuing with family and friends. ‘Tis the season for hot dogs, hamburgers, and yummy side dishes. So much fun! And you know what’s even more fun? Deciding on what to wear to a barbecue – yes, it’s a thing. Just ask my fashionable fashionistas because this is what we chose as this month’s style collab. Backyard barbecue-style apparently is a real thing – who knew? So let’s see what backyard barbecue-style means to these stylish sisters. This should be interesting!!”
“Backyard BBQ in Alaska means potluck and all meat and fish you eat was killed by one of your friends. When you are not a hunter or into fishing you bring whatever grows in your yard. Dressing wise it means combat or hiking boots, jeans and a tightly woven shirt to not become dinner for the mosquitoes when the BBQ is in the evening. When the event is in the afternoon, a skirt like I wear in the photo is fine.”
“The hubs and I grill out every single weekend in the summer…heck, we grill out almost all year long! My typical backyard barbecue outfit usually consists of a swimsuit & cover-up, but just in case we have actual company over I would probably wear my fav Bermuda shorts and a cute top, like this one from Old Navy… I love the smocking detail.”
“Even in the summertime, California evenings can get chilly, which is why for every sundress I own, there must be a coordinating piece to layer on when the sun goes down. See more on how I style one of my favorite maxi dresses, for a day-to-night backyard BBQ ready look, on the blog.”
“This year the 4th of July fell on a Sunday, so I created this patriotic look to wear both to church and then a Backyard BBQ.”
“I myself often wear a long dress for such an evening. Firstly, you have less chance of being stung by the mosquitoes. And in the evening it usually cools down a bit and then a long dress is very nice. Preferably also a slightly wider dress or one that is a bit forgiven, because well, with a bbq I always eat too much! This pre loved dress is really great. Very elastic but also quite thick, so ideal for a person who is always feeling cold like me.”

Such a fab look – from your outfit to your shoes and jewelry – and those glasses! Cutest sunnies ever! Gorgeous in green, Emma!
Thanks so much Gwen!
Emma, I loved this fabulous jumpsuit the first time you shared it and I think I might love it even more now! The idea of the sequin parrot for your guests’ viewing pleasure while your back is turned is brilliant! I basically stay away from the grill and the smoker as well. That is absolutely my husband’s domain! I’m like you and much prefer all the grilled veggies to any grilled meats! Happy grilling!

Thanks so much Shelbee! It’s funny how men love to BBQ isn’t it? It’s like some kind of primitive impulse!
I’m swooning over your jumpsuit, Emma, its emerald green colour looks amazing with your hair. And your sunnies are great fun too! xxx
Thank you so much Ann!
What a fantastic jumpsuit- the colour is amazing. But the back is stupendous!!! Love!
Thanks so much Lucy!
I love the vibrant green of this jumpsuit, Emma, but the sequined back has stolen my heart! Love that!
Thanks Sheila!
That’s just such a amazing jumpsuit with that gorgeous back! It’s not my area either, the bbq. I love sate a lot and other wise the salads are more my thing.
Thanks Nancy! I usually end up making the salad and rice!
What a wonderful page of glorious colour! Really enjoyed this Emma and so happy to see you in the Love Ur Look Jumpsuit, such a special brand. Big love. Suzi x

Thanks so much Anna!
What a cute Backyard BBQ look. That’s so funny that your husband never thought you would use his BBQ as a photo prop. My BBQ area is under construction right now, so I had to photograph myself in my garden.
Thanks Amy! My husband used to have a sign for the old BBQ saying “man zone”! He was joking of course! I can’t get the hang of taking my own photos, I can’t seem to frame them right.
what a gorgeous jumpsuit. I love the emerald green colour and then the detail on the back is wow!!
Alison xx
Thanks Alison! I love a bit of sparkle!

Emma,
Your green jumpsuit is fantastic especially the sequined parrot on the back! What a fun statement! Such a fun theme and collaboration this month!
Love all the different angles on this challenge – you all look ready for a wonderful BBQ. The green jumpsuit really suits you Emma. x
I love that you used a real grille as a prop for this theme because it is perfect. I love grilled vegetables and a good grilled bueger or hot dog on the grille.
I am in love with this utility green jumpsuit and that fabulous sequined parrot on the back. Your ring+matching bracelet are gorgeous too but I especially love the blush pink satin wedges and that sleek gold watch.
