One of the most fun things about blogging is being part of blogger collaborations, and I’m delighted to be taking part in this one! The lovely Ada of Elegance and Mommyhood invited me to be a part of her wedding series. Today I’m joining a group of stylish bloggers to share what we would wear to a fall (autumn) wedding! (As the only Brit in the group I’m adopting the American word for autumn for today’s post).
Weddings have certainly become more intimate affairs due to covid, that’s if they can take place at all. Here in the UK the rules differ depending on what region you live in, but large gatherings are not permitted anywhere. I was invited to a wedding which should have taken place in July, but that has been postponed until 2021. For those who want a big wedding that makes sense…I don’t think I would want the difficult task of bumping relatives off the guest list! But for those already planning a more low key ceremony it’s not so much of a problem. If you’re lucky enough to be invited to one you might be wondering what to wear for a fall wedding in the middle of a pandemic…hopefully you will find some inspiration here!
I’ve never been to an autumn wedding, so I started looking through some older clothes for ideas. It didn’t take long to find something appropriate. I’ve had this snake print chiffon dress for years but have never had the occasion to wear it. The purple and mustard in the print are colourful without being overpowering. Although the fabric is thin, the dress provides plenty of coverage. The knot detail gives it shape and accentuates the waist, so it doesn’t look too blocky. It’s lined too so isn’t see-through.
For accessories I’ve stuck to the two main colours: purple and mustard. I love the high cut style of these shoes because they cover my bunions and don’t pinch. (Unfortunately I can’t prevent the heels sinking into the wet grass!) The little velvet bag is perfect for occasions such as a wedding as it holds all of my essentials. To finish off I’ve chosen purple sunglasses and jewellery. If I needed an extra layer I’d wear either a dressier trench coat or a short faux fur jacket. It’s always best to be prepared for cold churches and standing around for photos!

“This beautiful silk jacquard black+silver rose dress with the bold ruffled hemline is perfect for a Fall Wedding – if I were to attend one. The herringbone black tights bring texture, interest and warmth to this look. And that fabulous fuzzy grey clutch with all the fraying and tassels brings more depth. With the right makeup and of course some heels in addition to fun statement earrings and some sparkly bracelets, this look would definitely be an elegant option to attend a wedding this time of year. Moto jacket is optional!” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adafurxhi/ Blog: https://eleganceandmommyhood.blogspot.com/
“2020 has certainly thrown us all a number of curveballs, with many celebrations including weddings or wedding receptions being postponed until we can safely celebrate again. This jumpsuit is a piece that I purchased last year for a girls’ trip to Napa, one that I planned to wear to one of this year’s wedding celebrations. Rest assured I will be saving it for one of those rescheduled weddings next year, and I hope that everyone stays healthy and safe during this time!” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/avecamber/ Blog: https://avecamber.blogspot.com/
“Take that basic slip dress you wore in the summer up a notch for a fall wedding or any dressy event. Adding a satin boyfriend blazer gives the dress a whole new look! Just add neutral pumps and some bling and you are ready to party!” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aquamarinastyle/ Blog: https://aquamarinastyle.com/
“I love attending weddings and planning what I’ll wear for the event! This fall we were supposed to have two weddings to attend, which I was really looking forward to as well as some long weekend getaways. One in September (my niece) in Oklahoma and one in October (our friend’s daughter) in Wisconsin. Sadly, both had to cancel their plans and simplify their attendance list. I believe the type of wedding and the venue dictate what is appropriate to be worn. I tend to be overly fancy; and for me a wedding is a perfect opportunity to pull out all of my sequins and rhinestones. This is the look I would have worn to the wedding in Milwaukee, Wisc.” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/fashiontandf/ Blog: https://www.fashiontrendsandfriends.com/
“This little, moody floral dress is the perfect addition to your fall closet. You can take it from work, to a dinner date, to a fall wedding without missing a beat. The dress has it all, flouncy sleeves, ruffled skirt, a tie belt to define your waist and shape, as well as a deep v neckline for a little hint of sexy. Pair it up with heels, a little sparkle, and a trusted clutch and you are wedding ready without breaking the bank. Hop on over to the blog to see full details on how to style this dress for a night of dancing and celebrating.” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/bosbodaciousblog/ Blog: http://bosbodaciousblog.blogspot.com/
“I haven’t worn my favorite green kimono in a few years and have been wanting to style it as a dress. So I layered a black lace trimmed slip dress over some lacy stockings and sassy high heels and added my green kimono with a leather obi belt. Then I ditched the belt and showed off the slip dress. I chose my furry yellow bag because I love the way it played with the bright colors in the kimono. Of course, my “Love” choker is a must for any wedding outfit!” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/shelbeeontheedge/ Blog: https://www.shelbeeontheedge.com/
“Although most weddings are put on hold right now (thanks a lot ‘rona), this collaboration was a fun reason to dress up for a short time anyway! I’ve long said that skirts can be dressy enough for weddings and by pairing this dark floral maxi with a lace top and belting it- it almost passes for a dress!” Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lbambrick/ Blog: http://www.idodeclaire.com/

I really love everything about this look. The yellow pumps are so unexpected and a great statement. The cut of the dress is a classic with a twist. Perfect investment for years to come. The abstract print with snake is so interesting. The colors are so nice together. Can it get better than that?
Emma,
Oh, to be able to attend a wedding in person. Who would have thought we’d all be pining for such things? LOL That aside, your dress is a lovely choice for such an occasion. I’ve had the pleasure of attending two zoom weddings recently so there was no need to dress up but I did anyway.

This lavender print is delicious on you especially with the yellow and gold accents!! xx
I happen to love purple and mustard together and think they are very Fall-ish. Glad my style challenge made you wear this stunning+unique snakeskin print dress. Love all the accessories too, especially the shoes and bag. =)
And EMMA, speaking of Fall, I prefer the British name – Autumn. I grew up (from middle school to high school) learning British English when I lived in Albania, but of course I am an American now and have adopted to these American terms. I definitely think you guys speak more proper English though. LOL
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING A PART OF THIS COLLABORATION. I hope you can join me again in December for Holiday Weddings – I am actually invited to one, then!
Wow, what a beautiful interpretation of snake print! So pretty with the mustard shoes. Of course, you have the PERFECT lilac sunnies, too! This was fun, wasn’t it? I do miss our Match Made in Seven collaboration!
xx Darlene

Emma, what a unique and pretty dress! I love the purple and yellow on you and your accessories are on point as always! This was such a fun collaboration because it forced me to get dressed up and I really enjoyed doing it! It has been so long since we have had reason to dress up.

Such a lovely fall wedding guest dress.
Collaborations are sooooo fun! Love this dress and I would have never thought to pair purple and mustard together but they look amazing, especially with your hair and skin tone. This is just a beautiful outfit on you. It’s kind of sad getting all dressed up with nowhere to go. LOL. I really do feel sorry for the people that had their weddings all planned out and now are in the waiting pattern, but I guess that’s just the way it is at the moment.
