There’s only one way to improve a striped top, and that’s with a little embellishment. While I love a stripes and floral print combo, nothing comes close to stripes and cats! I’m a sucker for animal motifs so when I saw this top in the Mango sale I added it to my online shopping basket quick as a flash. The cute tie front is the icing on the cake. The material is so soft it feels like a second skin. The only gripe I have with Zara and Mango is those huge papery labels, because even when I snip them out they leave scratchy bits that irritate me. Anyway, a bit of careful work with some nail scissors sorted that out!
In keeping with the cat theme I’m wearing some fabulous new cat eye sunglasses from Amevie. I love the oversized style and blue reflective lenses. They are so light and comfortable that I could almost forget I’m wearing them. I took them on my recent trip to Switzerland and wore them for a day sightseeing in Zurich (there’ll be a post on that soon!).
Amevie is a Canadian lifestyle and sun-care brand that aims to empower people to “love their lives in the sun, worry-free”. The name comes from the latin for “love life”. Sustainability is at the heart of Amevie; the sunglasses are made from bamboo, which can be harvested within four to five years, compared to hardwood trees which require 25 to 70 years of growth. For each pair of sunglasses sold, Amevie give a pair of eyeglasses to a child in need via their charitable partner, Seva Canada, who has helped more than 4 million people see again. The company’s founder, Ana Caracaleanu teamed up with the charity after her mother was diagnosed with advanced cataract, and nearly went blind.
There are eight styles of sunglasses to choose from (most are unisex) and range in price from $60-$99 USD. All Amevie sunglasses have CAT 3 polarized 100% UV blocking lenses, high quality hinges and are waterproof. Despite the lightness they feel very durable. I’m wearing the Paris design which I would say are the largest style in the range. For reference, I have quite a wide face and these fit a little on the roomy side. If you have more petite features you may be better suited to one of the other styles. The funky Del Mar model, which features reflective blue lenses and natural bamboo arms, fits narrow. I also love the Vegas design – a classic brown cat eye design which fits all. The sunglasses come with a microfibre pouch, cleaning cloth, foldable case and box.
If you look closely at the photo above you may see the reflection of my photographer; this was my daughter’s first attempt at taking blog photos for me. Not bad for an eight-year old, don’t you think? We spent a long weekend at my mum’s where the weather was glorious. I didn’t have a bag to go with this outfit so I raided her wardrobe and picked out this red one from Dune. After taking some photos wearing my white and gold flat sandals I spotted a pair of red wedges in mum’s closet too so I put them on and we snapped some more. Mum said I could have them because she can only wear flats now. I gave her two dresses and she gave me some shoes…that’s a successful swap!

I love everything about this outfit, Emma! This is exactly the kind of look I would love to out together myself 🙂
How lucky that your mum just happened to have the perfect pair of red shoes to go with it too.
The sunglasses I adore – I’ve always loved cat’s eye glasses but I’ve such a skinny face that I struggle to find ones that suit me. And now I have to wear prescription glasses full time, I’m even more limited (bummer!).
Have a wonderful week!

Thanks Suzy! My eyesight is very bad, I’m so shortsighted, but I wear contact lenses. I would really like to have laser eye surgery but it’s expensive and I’m a wuss!
Emma, another fabulous look! How cute is that top. And I agree that an animal embellishment will always improve a cute striped top! I love cat, fox, and bird motifs in particular. But I am also a sucker for a bunny rabbit, dog print, or hedgehog print too! I love the wide legged pants with the tie front top, too. And your accessories are just fabulous!

That top is just too cute! Love the kitty! Great bag too!
Thanks Amy!
Love the sunglasses Emma and I love a company that helps others! I’m not huge into animal motifs although I can’t pass up a good bulldog shirt. I also developed sort of a thang for the honey badger a few years back when the honey badger video was trending…imagine my delight when I found a sweater with a giant honey badger on it! 🙂

Emma, I LOVE the cat eye shape on you.. puuurrrrfect with the kitty patch on your top. I am with you on the tags, as I order from both companies… I have been looking for doggy sweaters and found one Anthro one I liked,, but none in my size. Love the red accents too, love the bag! Sounds like an interesting company and I look forward to your trip pictures.

Thanks Jess! I have a dog sweater that I bought from Asos a few years ago but it gets a lot of compliments (I think the dog is a French bulldog). I love anything with an animal motif!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE This outfit and theme! I am a huge cat lover! This gave me a push to get my post up in my cat outfit. I had the pics done over a month ago..but have had so many others to get up! You are just darling !!

Gutted because the Cat Eye shape doesn’t suit me at all! These look fab on you though Emma. I like the bag and the Red slingback wedges. I wished I was the same size as my mother. xx
Thanks Laurie! It is handy being the same size as mum – I’m also the same size as my husband and he wears my old running shoes! He’s not so fussed with the high heels though 😉
Pardon …. did you say your 8 year old too photos? They are amazing – well done! Cute outfit – the glasses are super. Thanks for the link up Emma. x Jacqui

Love that outfit! So chic and casual. Very Parisian!
Thanks Stephanie!
Hey, I found you! Love everything about this outfit AND this post – that’s so great to find a socially responsible company that gives back like they do. Will definitely take a look at their sunnies as I’m in need of a pair. This is a true story. I bought Ralph Lauren sunglasses at the flea market in 1985 (I was 25) – they are the only sunglasses I’ve ever owned and worn in all that time! Just this past summer I didn’t put them in their case before putting them back in my purse…and there was an emery board loose in my purse and DUN DUN DUN the emery board scratched the lenses all up BIG SADFACE. So now I’ve been looking for a replacement for The Love of My Life Sunglasses that I paid $8.99 for 30 years ago…and they’re so crazy expensive now! Anyway, that’s my sad tale of sunglass woe 🙁 I’ll survive…but am always happy for a referral on a brand or style, so thank you!
Bettye
https://fashionschlub.com
Oh Bettye, I’d have been so sad if that had happened to me! I have quite a few pairs of sunnies but some are more special than others…those that I’ve worn on special occasions and the investment purchases. You did well to keep them in good condition for 30 years! I hope you find a suitable replacement. TKMaxx is a great place for bargain sunglasses…I think you have TJMaxx in the US, which I’m guessing is the same. I just bought some fab glittery sunnies for £5 in the sale at River Island – for non-designer they’re really good quality. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I love red and stripes!
Thanks Becky!
Such a lovely look, the cat is awfully cute and add some fun vibe to a top
