I know it’s only mid October but the festive season is fast approaching. That means lots of parties and after work drinks. I don’t live close enough to my place of work to nip home and get changed, so going out straight after a day at the office requires some clever outfit planning. This is where the jumpsuit comes to the rescue.
It’s such a versatile item that can be styled casually or dressed up for a glamourous evening look. So if you’re looking for a hero piece to see you through the next few months and beyond, look no further. Styling a jumpsuit for day to night is so easy with a few carefully selected accessories. Seriously, everyone needs a jumpsuit in their wardrobe, and I’ll show you why.
This gorgeous navy starburst print jumpsuit from Laura Ashley is perfect for that day to night transition. I teamed it with a navy boiled wool jacket (also Laura Ashley) for an office-appropriate look. The jacket is so soft and cosy; it feels like a cardigan while looking like a biker jacket. In fact this entire outfit is incredibly comfortable – the stretch jersey fabric of the jumpsuit makes it feel as comfy as wearing pyjamas, yet it still looks effortlessly stylish.
I have a long torso so I often struggle with jumpsuits, but this one fits perfectly…definitely no wedgie 😉 The crossover V neck and sleeve length are very flattering, exposing just the right amount of skin. As you may know, red, white and blue is one of my favourite colour combinations, so naturally I opted for red accessories. The low heel on these shoes are practical for daytime but far from boring.
For a weekend casual look I’d wear the jumpsuit with classic white tennis shoes or silver trainers and a satin bomber jacket. You could also layer a lightweight navy turtle neck sweater underneath when it’s chilly. It would be the perfect item to take on a weekend away as the styling options are plentiful. I know jumpsuits can sometimes present problems with trips to the bathroom, but I can assure you that this one is very easy to get on and off. It has a zip at the back which doesn’t require an act of contortion to reach.

For my evening look I swapped the navy jacket for faux fur and added some bling. I found this jacket in a charity shop for £9.99 a few weeks ago. It goes perfectly with this jumpsuit, adding a touch of glamour. For jewellery, I chose some silver statement earrings and a sparkly cocktail ring (also from a charity shop). The deep V neck required a necklace, but as I was wearing big earrings I opted for a simple pearl drop to avoid overkill.
I treat metallics as neutrals because they go with everything – having gold, silver and rose gold accessories in your wardrobe is infinitely useful. These silver sandals and clutch bag are favourites of mine. I’ve had the clutch bag for years and have used it countless times. The sandals (from Matalan) are probably the most comfortable heels I own. Nothing in this outfit is going to restrict my moves on the dance floor! I can’t remember when I last felt so good in an outfit and yet so comfortable at the same time. After wanting a jumpsuit for ages, I’ve finally found the perfect one. It was definitely worth the wait!

Hello, Emma.
Good day! I really like jumpsuits because it is so comfy. But the only issue is the trips to the bathroom. Haha. I love how you can pair it with many accessories. The silver jewels and sandals look great on you.
