It’s the last Monday of July already…it hardly seems possible! That means it’s time for another Style Not Age post; it was Hilda’s turn to set the challenge this month, which is “Steal Her Style”. At first I was completely out of ideas, but then Villanelle from Killing Eve hit me with a flash of inpsiration. I’ve recently binge watched both series (I was a bit late to the party) and some of Villanelle’s outfits are to die for, pardon the pun 😉
One in particular really caught my eye: the two pale pink blouse and hot pink skirt she wears in Amsterdam. I decided not to include a screen grab from the programme in case of copyright infringement, but I’ve created a Pinterest board dedicated to TV’s chicest assassin. You can also see some of Villanelle’s best outfits here and here.
Once I’d decided which outfit to “steal” I had to hunt down the pieces to recreate it. I’ve got to admit that it wasn’t easy, but I was hellbent on doing it; I stalked my prey like my style inspiration would hers, determined to make them mine. I don’t usually buy new clothes solely for style challenges…unless I know I’ll wear them again. In this case I reasoned that I would. Any pale pink blouse would have sufficed as I was intending to knot it at the waist. But in my quest for a fuchsia satin maxi skirt I stumbled across this blouse at AliExpress. It makes a great budget alternative to the eye-wateringly expensive Rosie Assoulin Peek-A-Boo blouse that Villanelle wore (and is now sold out).
The skirt proved a little trickier. I managed to find a few that fit the bill, but none that would arrive in time. (I had to take the photos before leaving for holiday). As it happens, I did find one at AliExpress and ordered it on the off chance it would arrive in time (it didn’t). But as luck would have it, I found this midi length one in a charity shop for £5. It’s a size 8, so a bit tight on the waist, but it’s fine if I don’t sit down!
It’s a shame that we don’t see more of Villanelle’s outfit in the Amsterdam scenes, because it’s so beautiful…and totally over the top for daytime. But that’s all part of the appeal I guess! Her vintage ballgown skirt and statement Christian Lacroix earrings would certainly raise eyebrows in the Dutch capital!
As such, I had to use my imagination when it came to accessories. I didn’t want shoes that would take attention away from the rest of the oufit so I chose these pale pink mules that I’ve had for years. I was intending to add a small jewelled silver clutch but I didn’t have time to go digging through the wardrobe. Luckily I rediscovered my striped Lotus bag that works really well with the two shades of pink. (I featured it on the blog with matching wedge sandals a couple of years ago). I added some chunky gold earrings that I picked up in New Look on sale for £1.50. The gold spike bracelet gives a nod to the tough character who inspired this look. A simple rose gold necklace, watch and my Zultanite ring from Turkey adds the finishing touches.

Oh I love Villanelle! I love Killing Eve! I missed the second episode of the second season because of the festival I went to. Forgot to record it. And now I have 3 and 4 to see! Love it! And your look is so perfect. Absolute creativity!
Love Killing Eve. Great style steal Emma xx
Emma, this outfit is absolutely stunning on you! I love the different shades of pink and that twisty blouse is so cool. You have really nailed the style steal from Killing Eve (although I am unfamiliar with that show but I did check out the links you provided). Well done!

Don’t we all look super and very chic, nice to see the different ideas. Hilda and I always seem to have the same taste – twins, separated at birth lol. xx
I think it’s a fabulous re-creation. I saw season 1 and I’m waiting for season 2 to come to Hulu.

I saw Jacqui’s and Ilda’s outfits on Instagram this morning and loved them, great interpretations of the infamous brown dotted Pretty Woman dress. I have only watched the first episode of Killing Eve but want to watch the whole show. I love a great tv show with a serial killer. You killed it in this all-pink look by the way, with all the different shades of pink. Your yummy outfit looks so rich and expensive! Welcome by thursday moda this week to link-up with me. =)
Drooling over that outfit Emma. Just love it!
