One benefit of working in the same place as Pete is that we regularly get to meet for coffee or have lunch together. If we didn’t make the most of these opportunities we’d see each other a lot less with us both working shifts. Occassionally we get to car share too, which keeps travel costs down and helps the environment: win win! It also means I can pester him to take photos 😉 As it’s a special occasion I persuaded him to feature in this Valentine’s lunch date outfits post.
We rarely go out in the evening due to working patterns and childcare. But to be honest, I prefer to go out for lunch because I’m usually too tired to out at night (I know, I’m a party pooper!). With Valentine’s Day falling in the week it makes more sense to make a lunch date of it. Luckily we have plenty of options close by work that cater for both our preferences…I’ve sussed out most of them for the vegan options 😉
Pete isn’t one for dressing up (he won’t mind me saying that!) so he usually wears jeans and trainers for work. Thankfully there’s no dress code so we can wear whatever we want. He did make the effort with his footwear though and wore shoes for a change. Pete doesn’t like to spend a lot of money on clothes (ahem, unlike me!) so finding good quality jeans at a reasonable price point is important. These V by Very straight fit jeans are great value for only £35. They contain 2% elastane, making them really comfortable, especially when you’re sitting for most of the day. The only improvement would be to make the belt loop a little wider as it doesn’t seem to be a standard fit. As well as their own range of denim, Very also sell classic names like Levi’s and Wrangler.

Working a ten hour shift means I also have to dress comfortably, and it doesn’t get more comfy than a jumper dress. Teamed with thick tights and long boots, it also makes for a warm and cosy outfit, if a little bland…which is where a statement coat proves invaluable. You can put a coat like this on over the plainest outfit and still feel fabulous. To be honest, when I saw this faux fur coat online I wasn’t totally convinced. I’d been deliberating over several in the Asos sale, but I was drawn to the mix of colours and textures in this one. Once I put it on I was completely smitten! It’s one of those items of clothing that instantly lifts my mood and just makes me feel good. That’s how all clothes should be in my opinion! All hail the statement coat!

I’m trying to resist that coat now I’ve seen they have a 16 left, Emma. I really don’t need another coat but it looks phenomenal on you. I’m sitting in my hands now. Sharon xo
A lunch date is such a good idea! I love your bag, it’s a gorgeous colour.
You matched tonally! Great fun coat. John always insists on wearing trainers and when we go to a “posh” restaurant I make him take his shoes in a bag (like a woman….!). Thanks for joining #WowOnWednesday!
