I’m back with another orange-fest! You may remember last week’s Thrifty Six post featured this hat and earrings with an orange jumpsuit. Well, I have a confession to make because this was the outfit I originally planned for that post…and then I realised that the dress wasn’t thrifted…duh! Lucky for me that I had a fallback outfit thanks to the jumpsuit!
I definitely lean towards dresses and jumpsuits on holiday as they’re so easy to wear; all you need to think about is accessories. This vibrant orange maxi dress is one of my favourite hot weather outfits. It’s a lovely light, floaty material that doesn’t cling. Obviously it goes without saying that I love the colour! The orange really stands out against the green of the grass and trees too (orange and green is one of my favourite colour combinations!). I bought this dress for my trip to Spain last July and I featured it on the blog then and in October when I went to Madeira. I’m certainly getting some use from it!
My big Fabienne Chapot bag hasn’t had much use up until now because I thought it was a bit too big to take on holiday, but I used it as my carry-on bag so I didn’t have to pack it. There was plenty of room for all the usual long haul necessities: book, tech, snacks, makeup etc. I should be getting good at this packing malarkey as I was only back nine days before flying to Madeira which is where I am now. It was the first time I’d flown on my own in 12 years – that was when I came back from New Zealand, leaving Pete to enjoy another two weeks (I had no annual leave left). After all this time I thought I’d feel nervous going abroad by myself, but the airport wasn’t too busy, plus I had time for food and shopping. I’m making up for lost time during the pandemic!

It is such a fabulous dress, Emma! And I love your adorable tote bag. I used to fly places all the time solo without a worry in the world. Now I get so much anxiety that I avoid it all unless I can drive there! Good for you making the solo journey!

OMG, Emma! This is such a fabulous look on you! I love orange, but the cool colors actually better on me. That said, I do still wear orange just because I like it. I am glad you are finding post pandemic travel not overly stressful.
