This may sound odd, but one thing I haven’t missed about the last 14 months or so is going to restaurants and pubs. I’m just not really one for going out, preferring to stay at home instead. Boring, right? While almost everyone else seems to be giddy at the thought of sitting in a pub with a beer or glass of wine, I’m more excited at the prospect of sitting in a coffee shop! I haven’t had a drink since New Year’s Eve and I really haven’t missed it. For the first three months of the year I was working six days a week and I knew having a glass of wine in the evenings would make me feel more tired. Almost five months later I rarely even think about it. When I do have a drink I’ll be a cheap date after being teetotal for so long!
Actually, we are going out for lunch on Thursday as it’s our wedding anniversary, but I’ll be the designated driver. The pub is only a few miles away and is set in beautiful countryside. (We went there for our anniversary lunch three years ago and the weather was gorgeous). If I’m lucky I may get to take some outfit photos again! They might have to be indoors though as it looks like it’s going to rain. This vintage blouse and skirt would be perfect for a lunch date because it’s really comfortable but still looks dressy…quite literally. One of the reasons it appealed to me is because it looks like a dress…oh, and the gorgeous print. The blouse is quite long so it may look bulky tucked into trousers, but it would be fine over jeans or with another skirt. I can see the skirt paired with a chunky knit and tan boots in colder weather. That said, I’m not sure I’d want to split the blouse and skirt up.
To highlight the hot pink in the print I’ve accessorised this vintage blouse and skirt with my pink sock boots and bag. Tan, brown or purple accessories would work just as well though. I’ve bought quite a lot of vintage clothes recently (you may have noticed!) and have a few more pieces to show you in the coming weeks. And since charity shops reopened I’ve been popping in and picking up a few bargains in those too – I’ve missed that more than pubs! It’s looking less likely that we’ll be going to Spain in July – that will be the fourth scuppered holiday! Right now I’d be happy for some nice weather here while keeping everything crossed for the Caribbean in October!

You are a total knock-out in that outfit. Love it! I am also not big on bars and restaurants, so I haven’t missed it during the pandemic.

No. I haven’t missed pubs or restaurants either. I missed being able to try things on in a shop far more! I guess I’m boring too xx
I miss shopping and miss the shops that have been closed down! Do fancy going for a meal, but we ddtvo that often. Prefer to have a takeaway at home xx Jacqui x
Emma,
That ensemble is fabulous and you look amazing. I’ve also become quite accustomed to eating at home and now find it weird to spend so much money on the same food just to not have to cook it myself. Oh, well, it is nice though to be served. Anyway, I hope that you have a wonderful anniversary celebration and thanks for hosting.

Love this vintage outfit, the colors and print make it a real stand out! Great that you hunted down the two matching pieces together. I really miss the shops more than the pubs, too!
I haven’t really missed going out either. It’s not that I don’t enjoy it sometimes, but I am a happy homebody. The thing that’s been important to me is being able to see people I care about.
I love this outfit, Emma! So pretty!

Happy anniversary! I found that what I missed most about going out to eat was the social aspect—being with my friends—as well as the element of surprise. And I admit, it’s nice to have to worry about cleaning up and doing dishes!

Such a lovely look, really zingy colours and pattern. I adore the boots of course! I have made a couple of half hearted attempts to book a restaurant but both of my faves seem to be fully booked for weeks. Enjoy your outing x
Love the print!

these pieces look great together, like a maxi dress! 🙂
It’s nice things are reopening for you for dining in too! We weren’t big restaurant people before everything, and since things reopened after we eliminated covid with the first lockdown in march last year, I’ve only dined in once, haha! The rest of the time it’s been takeaway. the few cases that have got out of quarantine here have been spread in cafes or restaurants so I’m just not willing to do that too often yet, even though we have no cases at the moment!
Hope you have a wonderful meal for your anniversary 🙂
I’m a big fan of all this vintage, Emma – what a stunner of a set this is!
I miss going to pubs with a big gaggle of friends – that’s what I miss the most. I’ve been dry for 3.5 years now, and I don’t miss it. Now, if I only had a drivers’ license!
Love this vintage outfit, the colours are stunning. I agree with you , maybe we are out of practice. I went out with my family the other night and wasn’t really looking forward to it. However, the food was delicious and I did enjoy getting waited upon, without the washing up too. I do love going out for a coffee. Enjoy your weekend! xx
Love this print on you and I am a big fan of shirt dresses too. I love how you brought out the hot pink with your purse and boots! I love sitting outside, so I do enjoy eating outside at wineries, restaurants. We enjoy sitting by the lake here.
thanks for linking!

This set is stunning on you! I love the bold, bright pinks and purples! Those shoes are perfection with it too!
