Wrap Up For Winter – November’s Thrifty Six

Wrap Up For Winter - November's Thrifty Six

We’re halfway through November already, so it’s time to wrap up for winter! Having said that, it’s been pretty mild here lately, which has given me the opportunity to wear this fabulous orange tassel jacket. I had two of these on my eBay watch list, then the seller of this one made me an offer that I couldn’t refuse! Despite being cropped it’s actually quite warm, probably due to the layers of faux suede from the fringing. When I was a teenager I had a beige suede western-style jacket that I wore lots – I think I still have it at my mum’s house.

Not one, but two pre-loved items in this outfit!

I layered the jacket over a black outfit because I wanted it to have maximum impact. As it’s almost the festive season (I say almost because I don’t like to peak too early!) I chose a black sparkly jumper which I bought for about £3 in a charity shop. Not one, but two pre-loved items in this outfit! Faux leather leggings or jeans and knee boots are a winter staple for me. You can layer a dress over them instead of tights for extra warmth in the colder months. The weather is forecast to get much colder next week so I’ll be digging out my jumper dresses to wear over these leggings.

Now let’s see how my stylish blogger friends are wrapping up for winter…

Jane of Preloved-Vintage-Handmade

Winter coats I’ve known and loved…In my mind, I flick fondly through my winter coat ‘back-catalogue…cashmere, tweed, Marino wool, faux fur, such beautiful colours, shiny buttons and sometimes matching scarves or hats. Through the years they’ve kept me warm, made me happy and enhanced my fashion statement! All now worn out, sold, lost, out-grown or given to charity…always making space for more…like this dream in cream, the latest addition to my collectio. Oooooooh I do love a winter coat!

Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge

“I found this plush leopard coat a few years ago at my local thrift store and it is one of my favorite, coziest coats that I own. I love wrapping up in it on cold daysI feel kind of like a movie star when I throw it on over jeans.”

Grace of Graceful Rags

“Do blazers count as outerwear? I think I’m cheating a *little* with this month’s collab, but I don’t own any thrifted coats and didn’t have time to run to the thrift store. This secondhand brown tweed blazer is still a favorite though! I love how my preppy outfit came together and think the colors make it perfectly suited for a Thanksgiving dinner look (assuming, of course, the skirt and blazer have enough stretch).”

Lucy of Lucy Bertoldi

“What could be better for me than styling a darling vintage coat that belonged to my Mom?  The cut is impeccable, as is the luxurious fabric.  That’s not why I love it though.  Maybe it’s just my imagination but I’m feeling my mom’s scent swirling around me every time I wear it.

Nancy of Nancy’s Fashion Style

“When Jane mentioned she had chosen coats as our November’s theme I thought, gosh I have to shop for a pre loved coat. I do have jackets and blazers, but no coats. I already ordered a leopard print one on a second hand site, but wasn’t really pleased with it. And then it hit me!! I have a Viktor & Rolf for H&M trenchcoat in my closet! How could I forget about that one. Well, probably because I never wear it. It’s a bit to snug and so heavy. But it’s a gorgeous coat!”

That’s us wrapped up for winter…and for this month’s Thrifty Six instalment! We’ll be back next month for the last pre-loved theme of 2021!

That is such a good jacket! And it reminded me immediately of a similar jacket I had when I was ! Probably the same as you had! Lot’s of frings and beige. That sweater is a good bargain too!

  2. What a fabulously fun fringey jacket, Emma! I love this bright bold color on you, too. The sparkly jumper is so fun with your faux leather leggings, too. I just picked up a pair of faux leather leggings but haven’t worn them yet so I am appreciating the style inspiration as well! I remember I had a black suede fringed jacket in high school that was my favorite. I felt so bad ass in it! I wish I still had it. Although it probably wouldn’t fit me now.

  4. Love that fun orange jacket! Such a great piece!

  5. I actually had to wear my lighter winter coat here a few days. But it is mild now too. Love the fringe and the sparkles! What deals you find on Ebay. I shop secondhand through Poshmark, but keep forgetting about Ebay! Love this fun look and orange does look great on you.
